Emperte (エンペルト, Enperuto) are one the Template:Pokenum fictional species of Pokémon creatures from the multi-billion-dollar[1] Pokémon media franchise – a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards and other media, created by Satoshi Tajiri. Emperte are famous for evolving from one of the three species of Pokémon the player can choose at the start of their adventure in Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl versions of the series. The purpose of Emperte in the games, anime and manga, as with all other Pokémon, is to battle both wild Pokémon, untamed creatures encountered while the player passes through various environments, and tamed Pokémon owned by Pokémon trainers.[2] Emperte's name comes from the word エンペラー, the Japanese transliteration of the word emperor, which is also a species of penguin.
Characteristics
Emperte resembles an Emperor penguin, with metallic edges on its wings with three claws underneath. Its body form makes it seem to be wearing a tuxedo. On its head Emperte has three distinct horns resembling a trident, a symbol associated with the Greek god Poseidon. The length of these three horns that extend from its beak symbolize Emperte's strength. The longer the horns, the stronger it is. The tips of its wings are so strong that it's said they can destroy entire slabs of drift ice.[3]
In the Pokémon video games
Emperte was introduced in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl as the final stage of Pochama after it evolves from Pottaishi at level 36. It is unique as it is currently the only Pokémon to be both Water-type and Steel-type. As a Water and Steel-type Pokémon, it is resistant to many other types except Electric, Fighting and Ground-type, which should make it a relatively durable combatant. And seeing how it learns drill peck and can be taught moves like Surf and Ice Beam, Fighting and Ground type pokemon are pretty much eliminated as a weakness. It has extremely good special stats, thus making it great at using and defending against projectile attacks. Emperte also has a relatively high defense stat, this combined with high special stats and its many resistances make it an ideal tank\special attacker.
Emperte can learn many powerful moves, such as Earthquake, Surf, Blizzard, and Luster Cannon, a new Steel-type attack. Emperte has Base Stat totals in the 80s except for Special Attack, which has 111, Special Defense, which has 101, and its speed, which totals out to 60.
Emperte evolves from Pottaishi at Level 36 and learns Aqua Jet immediately.
If Emperte has a strong friendship rating with you, you can talk to a Move Tutor who is located somewhere in Shin'ou and teach Emperte the move Hydro Cannon.
