SIG was a pop band from Raisio, Finland, formed in 1978. The singer of the band was Matti Inkinen. Inkinen was main motor of band. Two SIG's probably most famous songs are “Vuosisadan rakkaustarina“ (The lovestory of the century) and “Hyvää syntymäpäivää“ (Happy birthday). The group was most active in years 1980-1987. The breaktrough of band was single "Tiina menee naimisiin" (Tiina gets to married), that was pure pop song. But Inkinen was interested on many genres of music. In first album is also song "Kartsaa" (On streets), that is punk song. Sig was never in top of music lists in Finland, but it made many radio songs. Most famous was "Hyvää syntymäpäivää". The band produced one album per years. Sig dissociated, because it members quarreled and was tired to make music. On 90's Sig made two comebacks with different crews. "Rakkauden sävel" was in style near original Sig. "Kansanlauluja kaupungeista" was synthpop album.

In 2003 original members of Sig made comaback and made album "Suomalainen pop-levy". Sig's last effort was single "Niin paljon sinua rakastinkaan" (How much I loved you) in 2008. Matti Inkinen has brain tumour in 2008. Tumour removed. In 2009 Finnish tablod magazine "Seiska" (Seven days) told, that Inkinen was suspected about
child porn crimes in net. Then Inkinen made suicide by drowning himself. Truncated Sig was then still active, but made no new albums or singles.
