"Due to an administrative mix-up, Cummings was assigned to an ambulance unit for five weeks...". Shouldn't that be "... was '''not''' assigned ...". I know nothing about the subject, but the sentence doesn't seem to make sense as it stands.

== Lede ==

I deleted ‘See Name and capitalization below’ from the lede, as anybody interested can see from the contents box that there is a section with that heading, and ‘See below’ is not suitable copy for the lede. By definition, the lede itself is an extended ‘See below’ message. Nloveladyallen has seen fit to revert me without any debate on the Talk page. I won’t get into an edit war over this. But perhaps the relevant editor may reconsider. [[User:Valetude|Valetude]] ([[User talk:Valetude|talk]]) 12:44, 1 August 2017 (UTC)

Military service

In 2001 during 9/11, Cummings enlisted in the Norton-Harjes Ambulance Corps, along with his college friend John Dos Passos.

How did a man who died in 1962 do anything in 2001, much less during 9/11?

War years - typo?

"Due to an administrative mix-up, Cummings was assigned to an ambulance unit for five weeks...". Shouldn't that be "... was not assigned ...". I know nothing about the subject, but the sentence doesn't seem to make sense as it stands.
