Canadian Women's Hockey League
Over the past 12 years, Brenda Andress has shaped and led the CWHL's vision to create the world's most exceptional women's professional hockey league – a place where women will ultimately earn a living playing the sport at which they excel.[4]
Brenda Andress' love for hockey began at the tender age of 16 and has taken her into refereeing the game, ultimately achieving one of the highest rankings, Level 6. Since 1978, when she became the first women to ever play for a men's college varsity team, Andress has been a game-changing leader in sport.[4]
During Andress' time as commissioner, the league formed four club-to-club partnerships with NHL teams, secured a Canadian broadcast deal with Rogers Sportsnet and expanded to Boston and China.[5] Brenda Andress even established the first ever Clarkson Cup Championship and spearheaded the inaugural CWHL All-Star Game on December 13, 2014 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
