Indya Moore (born 1995) is an American actress and model from The Bronx.[1] She is known for her role as Angel, a trans woman and sex worker, in the FX television series Pose.[2]
Early life
Moore's mother is Puerto Rican and her father is from the Caribbean. At the age of 14, Moore left her parents' home due to their transphobia and entered into foster care.[3] She moved around frequently during this time and has thus lived in all five boroughs of New York. She was frequently bullied and dropped out of high school in the 10th grade. Moore would eventually earn her GED.[4]

After dropping out of high school, Moore became a model at the age of 15. She began working shoots for fashion lines such as Dior and Gucci.[4] She was cast as Dijon and worked with Mj Rodriguez in the independent film Saturday Church. In 2017, Moore was cast in Pose, Ryan Murphy's FX television series about New York ball culture in the late 1980s.[6] In the series, Moore portrays Angel Evangelista, a transgender sex worker who joins the House of Evangelista after leaving the House of Abundance with her friend Blanca. She meets Stan, played by Evan Peters, while working at the piers and becomes his mistress. The series premiered on June 3, 2018, on FX, and attracted critical acclaim.[7][8] The first season boasted the largest cast of transgender actors ever for a scripted network series,[9] with over 50 transgender characters.[10] On July 12, 2018, it was announced that the series had been renewed for a second season, which is set to premiere sometime in 2019.[11]
