Adesewa Hannah Ogunleyimu professionally known as Adesewa Josh is a broadcast journalist who covers both national and international news. She is most notable for her work with Nigerian cable news network, Channels TV.[1]>[2] The former host of the Emmy nominated UN documentary, 21st Century,[3] began working as a world news correspondent with TRT World News in 2018.
Career
In 2007, Adesewa participated in a Nigerian Reality TV show for film actors, tagged The Next Movie Star,[4] where she finished as a semifinalist,[5] after which in 2009, she trained as a producer with the BBC.[2] In 2010 Adesewa bagged a Certificate in Governance from Alder Consulting and a certificate in TV Presenting from UK's Aspire Presenting Institute in 2012.[2]
After years of reporting in many African communities, Adesewa launched Project Smile Africa, a community project,through which identifies key development issues in poor communities and proffers sustainable solutions by enlisting residents who she and her teams train as community influencers. She also founded the Project Talk2urteens in 2014, to raise awareness on the prevalence of teenage pregnancy in Nigeria, a country with the world’s highest number of out of school children.[6]
In 2016, Adesewa won the Xceptional Women in Media Award for her reporting on women and children’s development in Nigeria.[7]
