Paul London and Brian Kendrick are a cruiserweight professional wrestling tag team on the SmackDown! brand of World Wrestling Entertainment and are the current WWE Tag Team Champions.

History

Prior to teaming together on SmackDown!, both London and Kendrick were students at Rudy Boy Gonzales and Shawn Michaels' Texas Wrestling Academy.

The pair first began teaming with each other in 2003 back when Kendrick was known by the ring name Spanky. The team would become a mainstay on SmackDown!'s sister show, WWE Velocity, until Spanky left the company.

During the fall of 2005 the pair reformed a team when Kendrick returned to the company under his own name. The team would go on to remake their image; wearing masks like those used in theatre plays to the ring and matching shiny purple, blue, then red, vests and shorts. The new image brought new life to the team who would go on to produce an impressive showing against the then-tag team champions, MNM.

On April 7, 2006 edition of SmackDown! London and Kendrick once again faced MNM, this time picking up a win in a non-title match against the reigning WWE Tag Team champions. London and Kendrick continued their winning streak on the champions, including singles victories for both Kendrick and London on Johnny Nitro and Joey Mercury respectively. The pair defeated MNM at Judgment Day 2006 to win the WWE Tag Team Championship together for the first time.

As WWE Tag Team Champions, Kendrick and London would go on to successfully defend their titles against other tag teams on the SmackDown! brand; including The Mexicools, The Pit Bulls, and K.C. James and Idol Stevens. On October 14, 2006 London and Kendrick became the longest reigning WWE Tag Team Champions in history.

During their feud with James and Stevens, London and Kendrick would start to be accompanied by Ashley Massaro to act as a valet to the team and combat the actions of James and Stevens' manager Michelle McCool.

Trivia

  • The internet wrestling community often refer to the team as The HooliganZ, as the name is printed on their ring wear, also having the HZ on the right knee of their blue/white and purple/black ring wear. They have since used their own initials to fill out that knee but still keep HooliganZ across the back of their vests and above the head of the joker printed on the left knee of their shorts. However, the name has never been acknowledged by WWE announcers on television, only at occasional non-U.S. house shows [citation needed].
  • Paul London and Brian Kendrick have faced off on 4 occasions (1 of which being a fatal-four way match), Kendrick has won 2 of the singles matches with London winning a single and the fatal-four way which included Kid Kash and Jamie Noble
