Mason collects money from the dead, deals, smuggles and uses drugs. He has become an alcoholic in response to the pressures of his job.[2] He is attracted to Daisy[3], and is often protective of her. He became jealous when she became attracted to another man called Ray, whom Mason felt was dangerous; Mason eventually killed him while trying to protect her.[4] While he is drawn to attractive females, his feelings for Daisy seem to run much deeper. Although Rube strongly disapproves of Mason's drug use, he has a soft spot for him. Rube took Mason home when he became seriously ill after attempting to smuggle a balloon full of heroin. The balloon burst in Mason's body and while a Reaper cannot die, they can get very sick. Rube was very angry at Mason, but he took care of him until he was back on his feet.
