William Dean "Billy" Martin (born June 15, 1981 in Annapolis, Maryland) is an American musician best known as the rhythm guitarist and keyboardist of the pop punk band Good Charlotte.

Early life and career

Born in Annapolis, Maryland, Martin has been playing guitar since he was in 6th grade when he received his first guitar for Christmas. He went on to attend Severna Park High School in Severna Park, Maryland. He started his first band, Overflow, with Steve Sievers, who later helped Martin run his clothing line, LeVeL 27. Martin is a vegetarian and is a huge animal lover. While recording Good Charlotte's third album The Chronicles of Life and Death, he and Benji Madden switched guitar roles. Martin also plays keyboards on the album, with the exception of "The Truth", and occasionally plays keyboards at their concerts. Martin, who enjoys drawing, created the artwork for The Chronicles of Life and Death album sleeve and cover. He also designed all the artwork for the videos "Predictable" and "The Chronicles of Life and Death". Martin has also written a children's book, Damious McDreary: A Boy and His Bat published in 2009. In December 2009, Martin liquidated his clothing company Level 27 saying that it was a great outlet for his artistic whims, it had served its purpose and would not be kept going as a clothing brand.[1] He also appeared with his bandmates in the 2001 film Not Another Teen Movie and the television special iCarly iGo to Japan.

Personal life

On March 1, 2008, Martin married hairstylist Linzi Williamson, whom he had been dating for eight years. On January 26, 2009 she gave birth to their first child Dreavyn Kingslee Martin in Pasadena, California.[2] In September 2012, the couple welcomed their second son, Zander Jace Martin.
