The municipal election of the Brazilian city of São Paulo took place on 1 October 2000 and 29 October 2000 to elect a Mayor, a Vice Mayor, and 55 City Councillors for the administration of the city. The incumbent Mayor was Celso Pitta from the National Labor Party (PTN), who didn't run for a reelection because of his low approval ratings.[1]

  1. ^ Collor was still banned from running for public offices until 29 December 2000 because of his impeachment. He also didn't declared a permanent residence in São Paulo to the Regional Electoral Court. As a result, his candidacy was impugnated.[3]
