Abellio Deutschland is a public transit operator in Germany which operates both bus and rail networks. The headquarters of the company are in Berlin. Abellio Deutschland is part of the Abellio group (formerly NedRailways), the international expansion arm of the Nederlandse Spoorwegen.

History

Abellio Deutschland was formed by the Essen public transit company in association with the British investment company Star Capital Partners, which owned 75% of Abellio. In 2008, both parent companies sold their shares to NedRailways, the international expansion arm of Nederlandse Spoorwegen. All NedRailways companies are now branded as Abellio.

Abellio Deutschland operates several regional railway lines in North Rhine-Westphalia, notably the line between Essen and Siegen / Iserlohn along the Ruhr and Lenne rivers.
