Gad's Hill School in Kent, England, was formerly Gads Hill Place, the country home of Charles Dickens. It became an independent school for day pupils in 1924.
School history
Charles Dickens died in what is now the school's dining room. Cedric Charles Dickens, the author's great-grandson, was a governor of the school until his death in 2006. Marion Dickens, the author's great-great-granddaughter, is a former pupil of the school[citation needed] and, as of 2018, is a Director of the school company.[1]
As of 2013, the school was moving into purpose-built buildings in the grounds of the house.[2]

As of 2018, the school's most recent inspection by the Independent Schools Inspectorate was in 2017.[3] The school was judged to meet all the regulatory compliance standards and educational quality was judged as good.[3]

Traditions
The evening before the Christmas holidays, the pupils and their families visit Rochester Cathedral to attend the annual Carol Concert. During this concert pupils read the Bible lesson, the school choir sings traditional carols and a pupil sings the first stanza of Once in Royal David's City.[citation needed]
