Peebles, also known as Specialty Retailers (TX) LP, is a department store chain in the eastern United States. It is owned by Stage Stores (NYSE: SSI), which also operates under the Bealls, Palais Royal and Stage banners. Peebles states: "Our specialty is bringing nationally-known, brand name apparel, accessories, footwear and cosmetics to small towns and communities throughout the U.S."[1]
The company's first store was opened in Lawrenceville, Virginia in 1891 by W.S. Peebles, Sr., the company's founder.[2] Peebles is now bsaed in South Hill, Virginia.
