NM&nbsp;162 was created in the 1950's after US&nbsp;84 was moved west of Tierra Amarilla. It origionally turned in Tierra Amarilla and followed the current [[New Mexico State Road 573|NM&nbsp;573]] north to the current [[New Mexico State Road 512|NM&nbsp;512]]. It then turned west and followed current NM&nbsp;512 west towards US&nbsp;84 and US&nbsp;84 north of [[Brazos, New Mexico|Brazos]]. State Road 162 (NM 162) is a 2.6-mile-long (4.2 km) state highway in the US state of New Mexico. NM 162's southern terminus is at U.S. Route 84 (US 84) west-southwest of Tierra Amarilla, and the northern terminus is at US 64/US 84 north of Tierra Amarilla.

History

NM 162 was created in the 1950's after US 84 was moved west of Tierra Amarilla. It origionally turned in Tierra Amarilla and followed the current NM 573 north to the current NM 512. It then turned west and followed current NM 512 west towards US 84 and US 84 north of Brazos. In the 1988 renumbering NM 512 and NM 573 were created and NM 162's northern terminus was changed to its current location.[2][3]
