Welcome
[edit]Hey Kamion — welcome to Wikipedia :) --Joy [shallot] 01:10, 28 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Hi Colin,
Thanks for your improvements to the article. Maybe you could fill us in on the relative roles of Debian Unstable and Grumpy Groundhog (with references if possible)? That seems to be the only loose end in the article, otherwise it's pretty much ready to become featured. Thanks. - Samsara (talk • contribs) 22:07, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

Ubuntu linux guide on wikibooks: new project
[edit]Hi; I'm new here.... just created an account over on wikibooks; found to my annoyance that it doesn't automatically give me the same here (tho it appears that wikimedia is changing that... slowly). Anyway, i've also just started a project @ wikibooks: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Ubuntu_%28Linux%29_Guide They haven't got anything on ubuntu (their linux selection as a whole is somewhat limited & slightly dated), so i thought i'd have a go @ getting something started... unfortunately my time is somewhat limited & my expertise rather more so; @ best i'm a semi-elightened end-user with some linux/ubuntu experience, meaning i'm hoping to find people who are better @ this than i am to do the dirty work. I'm aiming for something like "ubuntu for dummies", but rather more comprehensive & with more in-depth resources for those who want them; say a 3-tier system of interlinked pages on each subject: basic, intermediate, & advanced/expert. But still written (as much as possible), in a friendly. accessible style & with some room for fun, a sense of humour & assorted "cool stuff" (while staying within the wikibook guidelines of course) right now, it's just barely the beginning of a shell/outline of the intendedproject, but it is a beginning... im hoping for more soon; i'll work on it when i can. In any case, i'm clearly looking for interested people & since you have the ubuntu chops, i thought i'd come & bother you about it; any help you can send my way, advice, contributions (writing), people, etc., or simply getting the word out... would be vry much appreciated :)
(glad they didn't delete the scott james remnant page, it would have been sad if his only remnant was in the deletion logs. i tend to favour restraint in deletion, rather than overkill; if there's nothing that's unreasonably offensive, illegal, or a copyright violation i dont see the harm in keeping things around: if it's factually incorrect it should be fixed & if it's crap, maybe someone will come along & improve it; hopefully sooner rather than later)
i'm Dr. know http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/User:Dr._know on wikibooks & nobody on here, until they get the usernames integrated, if that really does go ahead; if you want to drop me a line anytime, that would be cool, & if not, sry for bugging you. hope 7/10 is going well, looking forward to the results, regards --65.93.198.227 15:30, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
