B in the Mix: The Remixes is the first remix album from Pop Superstar Britney Spears. It was released in the U.S. on November 22, 2005.
No promotion
Perhaps due to the fact that B in the Mix was released only months after Spears gave birth to her first child, the compilation received virtually no promotion, though this is the case for many remix albums such as those released by Mariah Carey, Destiny's Child and Jessica Simpson. B in the Mix sold just 14,000 copies its first week in stores.
Two weeks before the record's release, MTV ran an article stating that the album was meant to be a "surprise," and going on to consider it "Britney's maternity-leave placeholder."
"And Then We Kiss" was released in Asia only, where it charted in several countries. The song surprisingly appeared on Billboard's Hot Dance Airplay chart, as it wasn't even officially released in the U.S., only for digital download.

Chart performance
Due to the entire lack of promotion, the album failed to crack the top one-hundred of the U.S. Billboard 200. B in the Mix debuted at number 134 on the chart, selling 14,077 copies in its first week of release. The Promo single 'And Then We Kiss' also received heavy airplay in Europe.

Extended Copy Protection
In November 2005, it was revealed that Sony BMG was distributing albums with Extended Copy Protection or XCP, a controversial feature that automatically installed rootkit software on any Microsoft Windows machine upon insertion of the disc. In addition to preventing the CD's contents from being copied, it was also revealed that the software reported the users' listening habits back to Sony and also exposed the computer to malicious attacks that exploited insecure features of the rootkit software. Though Sony refused to release a list of the affected CDs, the Electronic Frontier Foundation identified B in the Mix: The Remixes as one of the discs with the invasive software.
