As per 2018 information bulletin[1]

Junior Science Talent Search Examination (JSTSE) is conducted each January by the Science Branch of the Directorate Of Education in Delhi[2] It is open to students of recognized schools in Delhi.[3] About 500,000 students appear in JSTSE each year out of which only 150 students are awarded the scholarship.[3]

Success rate

About 500,000 students appear in this examination, out of which only 150 students are selected. The success rate of this examination is about 0.03%.[3]

Eligibility

Any student studying in Class IX of a recognized school in Government or government Aided/Public/KV/Navodaya/NDMC schools and having earned at least 65% class VIII is eligible.[3]

Examination fee

There is no charge to enter the exam.[3]

Type of examination

The examination has two papers.[3]

I. General Knowledge

  • 50 questions 50 marks 50 minutes

II . General Science and Mathematics

  • 150 questions 150 marks 150 minutes

Number of scholarships

There are 150 scholarships for JSTSE per year.[3]

Reservations

Reservations are provided to Indian Nationals belonging to certain categories (SC, ST, PwD, etc.) and to the girls in accordance with the rules of Government of India and such candidates are declared qualified in JSTSE based on relaxed norms.
