The 2019 Kehoe Cup is an inter-county hurling competition in the provinces of Leinster and Ulster. The competition is ranked below the Walsh Cup and takes place in December 2018 and January 2019.[1][2]
5 county teams will compete: Antrim, Kildare, Meath, Westmeath and Wicklow.[3]
For the first time, a Kehoe Cup Shield will be contested, by Louth, Longford and DCU St. Patrick's Campus.[4]
Format
Kehoe Cup
The competition is a knockout with double-elimination elements. 4 teams compete in the first round (Games 1 and 2). The winners of Games 1 and 2 progress to the semi-finals.
The loser of Game 1 plays Antrim in a playoff (Game 3). The winner of game 3 progresses to the semi-finals.
The losers of Games 2 and 3 play each other in a playoff (Game 4). The winner of game 4 progresses to the semi-finals.
The semi-final winners progress to the Kehoe Cup Final.
Drawn games go to extra time and a possible free-taking competition.
Kehoe Cup Shield
Each team plays the other teams once, earning 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw. The top two teams play in the final.
