The Box Ghost is a generally harmless ghost from the animated series Danny Phantom.
He is voiced by Rob Paulsen.
Appearances/History
He first appeared in One of a Kind. Box Ghost makes the attack on a warehouse, because he was used by Skulker as bait. At the end of his debut episode, he enters a classroom, and Danny Phantom (Daniel Fenton) attacks him.
In Splitting Images, Box Ghost makes the attack on Danny at the opening, and actually manages to best him. The Box Ghost returns in the end with his new name, "The Mechanical Frog Ghost", but he changes his mind when the mechanical frog malfunctions.
In Prisoners of Love, he meets Danny at the room in the Ghost Zone where human-world objects were kept. Then, Walker's lackeys arrested them both. At prison, Box Ghost and all the ghosts teamed up to escape.
He made a brief appearance in Lucky in Love while Danny was on a picnic with Paulina only to be beaten up by Danny to impress Paulina.
He showed briefly in Life Lessons where he was used as bait by Skulker again. In the end, he was chased by Valerie.
Later, in Reign Storm, he displayed his new power to control bubble wrap. He, along with the other ghosts teamed up to stop Pariah Dark.
He briefly appears in Identity Crisis.
In the alternate future of The Ultimate Enemy, he and the Lunch Lady Ghost are married and have a child (humorously called Box Lunch). His future self is muscular, and had an eyepatch and a hook, due to injuries sustained by Dark Danny. He is considerably more dangerous and violent in this future. He is also more powerful than his present self, able to fire cubes of destructive energy. It should also be noted that his version is no longer the comedic idiot he once was but a sadistic old man who wants nothing other than revenge. His jokes and speech are also more sadistic and no longer funny
He later makes another appearance in Secret Weapons, where he traps Tucker and Sam and fights Danny. He ends up escaping after Danny was sucked into the Fenton Thermos (yet again) by his sister Jazz.
Character
The Box Ghost and Danny are on somewhat (relatively) friendly terms, as neither sees the other as any sort of threat. He loves to say his catchphrase: "I am the Box Ghost! Beware!" and is usually too busy shouting his title to actually cause damage. He becomes indignant when referred to as anything apart from "The Box Ghost", such as when Jazz called him the "Crate Creep." He's serves more of a running gag than a bonafide threat. Box Ghost is sure to appear again, if only for comedic purposes.
Personality/Weakness
The Box Ghost is a rather comical ghost who, despite numerous shouts of "Beware!" is not as threatening as he intends to be. Incompetent in battle and serving more as a joke to Danny's team then anything else, he has his rare moments when he sees his own victories.
The Box Ghost's greatest weakness is the fact that he constantly misjudges his rather meager abilities, seeing them as bigger than they are.
Power
The Box Ghost has the standard ghost powers of intangibility, invisibility, and flight. He has the ability to control boxes, and to put out the items inside. In "Reign Storm", he gains the ability to control bubble wrap as well. In "The Ultimate Enemy", the future version of Box Ghost has gained the power to create energy cubes out of thin air.
Trivia
- In "Identity Crisis", when Danny, Tucker, and Sam are using Danny's Computer Ghost Files, they check to see which ones are in the Ghost Zone, saying "Ghost Zone" after each one. When they get to the Box Ghost, they all say "Who Cares?". Apparently, he's not worth Danny's energy to chase and capture, since he's not really a threat to anyone.
