XO Communications (previously Nextlink Communications, Concentric Network Corporation and Allegiance Telecom, Inc. is a telecommunications company owned by Verizon Communications. XO provides managed and converged Internet Protocol (IP) network services for small and medium-sized enterprises.[1] XO delivers services through a mix of fiber-based Ethernet and Ethernet over Copper (EoC).[2] In addition, the company has external network-to-network interface (E-NNI) agreements with traditional carriers and cable companies.[2]
Acquisition by Verizon Communications
In a news release dated February 22, 2016, Verizon announced plans to acquire XO Communications' "fiber-optic network business."[3][4] A combined Verizon-XO offering is expected to be offered in June 2017 by a business unit for small businesses and government markets.[5][needs update]
