José Luis Valiente Giménez (born 18 May 1991) is a Spanish footballer who plays for Greek club Asteras Tripoli as a midfielder.
Club career
Born in Alzira, Valencia, Valiente finished his graduation from the youth academy of Alicante CF. He made his senior debut in the 2010–11 season with Alicante CF B, in the Tercera División. He went on to represent UD Alzira in the same tier before joining Segunda División B club Olímpic de Xàtiva on 26 July 2014.[1]
On 8 July 2015, Valiente switched to Atlético Levante UD in the same tier.[2] On 19 July 2016, he moved to fellow league club Lleida Esportiu.[3] On 21 August, he made his debut, playing the whole ninety minutes of a 1–0 defeat against CF Badalona.[4] After playing for two seasons with the club, his contract was rescinded on 1 June 2018.[5]
On 4 June 2018, Valiente moved abroad and joined Greek club Asteras Tripoli, after agreeing to a three-year deal.[6] On 2 August, he made his debut, starting in a 1–1 draw against Scottish club Hibernian in the UEFA Europa League.[7] On 25 September 2018, he scored his first goal in a Greek Cup match against Apollon Smyrnis, which ended as a 2-1 home win. [8] On 22 October 2018, he scored his firsy league goal with a stunning shot, in a 3-2 away loss against Atromitos. [9] On 18 December 2018, he scored in a 4–0 away win against Apollon Paralimnio for the Greek Cup. [10] On 23 January 2019, Valiente scored in a dramatic 5-3 home win against AEL for the Greek Cup round of 16. His team won 7-6 on aggregate and qualified for the quarter finals of the contest. [11]
