This detector may not be accurate all the time, though, so it shouldn't be relied on 100% and will only start working on new revisions to pages, not older pages in the backlog.

Hello Bellezzasolo - I'm not sure why you said I didn't quote a reliable source when I edited the Believer's Eastern Church page. The source I cited (and I cite a source) is the church's own website. Can you please explain to me how that is not a reliable source? Mentoring

Hi. At [1] I agreed to get some mentoring from you to know more about the interesting technical side of templates. However, I have a quick question. How does the mentoring process work? Pkbwcgs (talk) 19:45, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Pkbwcgs:, Wikipedia:Mentorship has some information, although it's not exactly focused on technical mentorships. I would say that the key to it is that I review your template edits, and provide suggestions. Also, if you have a question, don't hesitate to ask me (or, indeed, anybody!). I would say that the first thing to do is look at sandboxing. Bellezzasolo Discuss 20:41, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I have a question, what is the best way of merging the function of two templates or modules together? I don't want to break any functions or get the merge incorrect. I don't want to merge anything templates or modules right now but it is just useful to know. Pkbwcgs (talk) 19:30, 14 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Pkbwcgs: Oh my, template merges. I've never actually done one, but I'll answer in full shortly, since I'm currently on a mobile. Bellezzasolo Discuss 20:42, 14 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Pkbwcgs: I've written this rough guide. Wikipedia:Merging Templates. It's rough because the approaches to merging different templates can be very different. @Primefac and MSGJ: you guys are much more familiar with the process than I am, I'd greatly appreciate it if you could take a quick look and tell me what I've got wrong or ommitted. Bellezzasolo Discuss 20:50, 16 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
How is my work in trying to merge Template:Infobox Muslim leader into Template:Infobox religious biography at User:Pkbwcgs/merge sandbox. Pkbwcgs (talk) 19:54, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Pkbwcgs, here is my process for merging templates:
 1. Find which parameters are exactly the same
 2. Find which parameters are same function, different name
 3. Find which parameters in the "to merge" template need to be added into the target.
 4. Add the params from #3, and (if there aren't too many) add the params from #2 as alternate params
 5. Redirect or wrap the "to merge" template. I do the former if there are few (if any) params from step #2. I do the latter if there are significant layout/format differences between the two templates.
The hardest step of this process is step #4, as you'll see if you check out my edits for the merger of infobox country and Template:infobox former country. You need to make sure that every old param is accounted for, and while some layout changes are inevitable, they also need to make sense.
My biggest piece of advice when doing a complex merger (i.e. more than just "add a couple of params and redirect") is to test the heck out of it. Test it with all of the old params, test it with all of the new params, etc. Primefac (talk) 14:37, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Primefac: When I was testing merging two templates at my merge sandbox, it took me around two hours and it is still not finished. Does it normally take a long time? Pkbwcgs (talk) 16:25, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. While I didn't work on it full-time, it took me almost four months to get in enough time and testing to merge the IB country/former country templates. When I merged the various IB cricket templates (there were 5? in total) it took me the better part of two weeks to make sure everything worked out properly. A job well done is not a job done quickly. Primefac (talk) 16:29, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Primefac: It is very difficult to merge Template:Infobox Muslim leader to Template:Infobox religious biography and I am having a go at User:Pkbwcgs/merge sandbox. Can you please give some suggestions. Pkbwcgs (talk) 16:54, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I'm not sure what sort of issues you're experiencing, since I haven't looked at the templates or your merger in much detail, but "tweaks" like this are going to break the infobox every time. The label number must match the data value it is associated with. At this point I think it's best to move this off Bellezzasolo's page (unless they don't mind it being here) and discuss somewhere else, like the template talk or WT:WPT, because we're going to have to discuss how infoboxes work and how to properly implement a merger. Primefac (talk) 17:52, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Primefac: I'm sure you will be please with this because my merge at User:Pkbwcgs/merge sandbox works! Pkbwcgs (talk) 19:11, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Pkbwcgs and Primefac: It looks good to me: User:Bellezzasolo/sandbox/testcases. Bellezzasolo Discuss 22:33, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Is there any improvements that could be done in terms of where the parameters are located? Pkbwcgs (talk) 07:31, 22 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Um... other than the fact that you've completely moved around what looks like all of the parameters... ideally the merger target largely stay the same. For example, you've moved the |disciples= into the "Personal" section instead of being in the "religious career" section where it was originally. Primefac (talk) 11:26, 22 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, some minor tweaking needed. Of course, during mergers you can't get everything as before (maybe you could include a layout parameter, but nobody does that!) But in terms of the technical merger itself, it looks good. Bellezzasolo Discuss 12:20, 22 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I think it is all done now. It is ready to be actually merged to the real template. I already done some tweaking and removal of duplicate parameters yesterday. Pkbwcgs (talk) 08:22, 24 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Pkbwcgs: A few observations. Firstly, the born/died fields, and maybe some similar, probably should be under the "personal" details. Secondly, {{#switch:{}|Hinduism|Jainism|Sikhism=|#default=Religious career}} is inconsistent with Template:Infobox religious biography's {{#switch:{}|Hinduism|Jainism|Sikhism=Religious career|#default=Senior posting}}. Finally, I would suggest that the religion/sect fields are moved out of the career section to be above personal details, again in keeping with religious biography. Other than that though, it looks ready to go to me. Bellezzasolo Discuss 12:33, 24 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I have made the amendments. Pkbwcgs (talk) 14:04, 24 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Pkbwcgs: I made a minor fix, as the if statement for the Religious career section still included the religion parameter, which was causing an empty section to be displayed on my testcases. I'm having a good look through for any other minor issues. Bellezzasolo Discuss 14:50, 24 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Shall I copy User:Pkbwcgs/merge sandbox to Template:Infobox religious biography? Pkbwcgs (talk) 16:14, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Pkbwcgs: I wouldn't say to do it quite yet, I'd seek consensus to make the change. It can't hurt. Bellezzasolo Discuss 19:25, 29 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the delay. I have opened up a thread at Template talk:Infobox Muslim leader to see if consensus can be seeked from that thread. Pkbwcgs (talk) 17:36, 5 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Since opening a thread at Template talk:Infobox Muslim leader, there has been nothing said or anything. Does that mean that I should just go forward with my merge? Pkbwcgs (talk) 09:17, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I have done another merge today. I have merged Template:Infobox Christian church body with Template:Infobox Christian denomination at User:Pkbwcgs/merge sandbox/2. It looks really good. Pkbwcgs (talk) 10:14, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

NPR Newsletter No.14 21 October 2018

Chart of the New Pages Patrol backlog for the past 6 months.

Hello Bellezzasolo, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!

Backlog

As of 21 October 2018, there are 3650 unreviewed articles and the backlog now stretches back 51 days.

Community Wishlist Proposal
Project updates
 • ORES predictions are now built-in to the feed. These automatically predict the class of an article as well as whether it may be spam, banter, or an attack page, and can be filtered by these criteria now allowing reviewers to better target articles that they prefer to review.
 • There are now tools being tested to automatically detect copyright violations in the feed. This detector may not be accurate all the time, though, so it shouldn't be relied on 100% and will only start working on new revisions to pages, not older pages in the backlog.

Something is not right about my merge between Template:Infobox Bishopric and Template:Infobox diocese. Can you please help me out. Pkbwcgs (talk) 18:34, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Pkbwcgs: There's a few things there, comes with merging. One that's going to be really fun to sort out is the default behavior in Template:Infobox Bishopric to display bishopric without a parameter. I've made it conditional in the sandbox, which means that any occurrences of {{Infobox Bishopric are going to have to be replaced with {{Infobox diocese|bishopric=|. No big issue, to be honest. More fun is the title, I'm still working on that. Bellezzasolo Discuss 13:42, 12 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Padlocks

Hi Bellezzasolo, I don't have time tonight - but before we mass update all the padlock images, the files need to be uploaded locally and protected. — xaosflux Talk 04:01, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Xaosflux: Hi, I realized that this needed doing after I made the module update (I've reverted it for now). Hence I've uploaded local versions and asked at Requests for permissions/File mover for the right to move them over the Commons versions. Of course, there's still protection after that, but I've tried to cut down on the work a bit. Bellezzasolo Discuss 04:07, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Although it looks like I wrongly assumed that file mover would allow overiding commons. It's one for RM then. Bellezzasolo Discuss 04:11, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I've protected them at Commons and Mz7 create protected them locally. If that is acceptable with you Xaosflux it is all set. --Majora (talk) 04:13, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I'm not sure what the functional difference is between uploading locally and then protecting, or just create-protecting. For now, I've create-protected, but I'm happy to defer to whatever you all think is best. Mz7 (talk) 04:16, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Mz7: From the wording at Template:Keep local high-risk I guess it's that we just don't trust those commons admins. Bellezzasolo Discuss 04:19, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Not quite sure whether I should be insulted or not...
In any case, whatever you all want to do. The padlocks are set so that you can modify the description page but you cannot move or upload over them on Commons. --Majora (talk) 04:22, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I can't see any function difference between the local protection and the current situation either, it should be safe to reenable the new icons. Bellezzasolo Discuss 04:27, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Bellezzasolo and Majora: yes its mostly to avoid any issues with 'those commons' people that have rarely occurred. The protection I was referring to is just "upload" protection - it could be very embarrassing for image banter. — xaosflux Talk 12:42, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Is there a reason not to add them to the cascade-protected page? Pretty sure the old icons were/are. ~ Amory (utc) 23:24, 14 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Amorymeltzer: I don't see that as necessary - it's not a big deal if someone edits the description, and in most cases the "click" is bypassed so they won't just end up on the description page. — xaosflux Talk 23:45, 14 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure where better to write this, but thanks to everyone involved in changing the padlock symbols. The new versions are much more intuitive. Certes (talk) 23:48, 14 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

File mover granted

Hello Bellezzasolo. Your account has been granted the "filemover" user right, either following a request for it or due to a clear need for the ability to move files. Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:File mover for more information on this user right and under what circumstances it is okay to move files. When you move a file please remember to update any links to the new name as well! If you do not want the file mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! TheSandDoctor Talk 08:01, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'll just note, however, that wouldn't the task you wanted this right for be accomplished faster if the images were simply downloaded and reuploaded (or if we asked XYZtSpace to locally upload them)? I don't remember file movers (or anyone) being able to move files across wikis (without the use of some external tool (that might need this right)). Anarchyte (talk | work) 11:51, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Anarchyte: I've already uploaded to different names. I assumed initially that with file mover, I'd be able to move them over the commons versions (I'd already tried directly uploading over with no success). It unfortunately looks like that specific perm is still bundled up in the admin toolset, so I can't do what I wanted. However, I'm sure the perm will come in useful anyway in dealing with new uploads. Bellezzasolo Discuss 11:55, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
If all that is preventing this change from going live is moving "shackle1" to "shackle", I can go ahead and do that and then protect them. I know very little about how the templates/modules work however, so someone else will have to make the final changes. Anarchyte (talk | work) 12:01, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Anarchyte: Brilliant, it's only the files that need doing, I can then do the module stuff. There's a list at WP:AN#Implementation of this RfC with handy move buttons. They'll probably need upload/move protection after the move as well. Bellezzasolo Discuss 12:03, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
As the boilerplate automatically posted here states, if at any time you wish for this flag to be removed, just let me or another admin know. --TheSandDoctor Talk 16:06, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@TheSandDoctor: I thought there'd be stuff to do, but it doesn't really look like there is. I don't think I'm likely to use the perm, so please can you remove it. Bellezzasolo Discuss 20:12, 15 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

NPR Newsletter No.15 16 November 2018

Chart of the New Pages Patrol backlog for the past 6 months.

Hello Bellezzasolo,

Community Wishlist Survey – NPP needs you – Vote NOW
 • Community Wishlist Voting takes place 16 to 30 November for the Page Curation and New Pages Feed improvements, and other software requests. The NPP community is hoping for a good turnout in support of the requests to Santa for the tools we need. This is very important as we have been asking the Foundation for these upgrades for 4 years.
If this proposal does not make it into the top ten, it is likely that the tools will be given no support at all for the foreseeable future. So please put in a vote today.
We are counting on significant support not only from our own ranks, but from everyone who is concerned with maintaining a Wikipedia that is free of banter, promotion, flagrant financial exploitation and other pollution.
With all 650 reviewers voting for these urgently needed improvements, our requests would be unlikely to fail. See also The Signpost Special report: 'NPP: This could be heaven or this could be hell for new users – and for the reviewers', and if you are not sure what the wish list is all about, take a sneak peek at an article in this month's upcoming issue of The Signpost which unfortunately due to staff holidays and an impending US holiday will probably not be published until after voting has closed.

Help with map!

Hello Belezzasolo! I saw your fine work on the AIEA locations map. I am trying to modify this page here which was clearly below acceptable levels https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Federation_of_United_Nations_Associations The thing is this organisation is membership-based. They got 100 or so members. I wanted to use your map to add all of them. The problems I am facing are: 1) I would like to use it outside of the sidebar 2) I would like to add a zoom effect on Asia/Oceania, South America and Africa too 3) it is quite "fragile" as it is because of the mutliple lines. Regarding "3" I found this map here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippine_Airlines the code of which is more condensed. But it doesnt have the "zoom". Any help on any of the above would be very very much appreciated. Needles to say i'm not a pro.:)--APG1984 (talk) 20:36, 22 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@APG1984: Regarding the zoom function, you were missing that there's an outer that needs to know what the maps to be displayed are too! I've made an edit for now which should give you some ideas - [2].
You can use the template outside of the infobox - like so:

Thank you and apologies in advance for flooding you page with my maps!

I've made an attempt below and got the following problems :))) How can I:

- chose the color of the pins and size ? (there is no line in the code that allows that or that mentions the svg file of the button)

- avoid the problems that seem to appear with some locations which are correct (coordinates-wise) but wrong on the general map (everything is a bit lower). like cape town. see here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:APG1984

- Also, on some other maps, pins apear correctly placed but outside of map

Thanks a million. no rush, I imagine you got much more to do:) --APG1984 (talk) 17:42, 24 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@APG1984: with the world map thing, it looks like an issue in the underlying template, so nothing to do with your code. That's a good spot. Regarding color of pins, you can change the image like so:
| mark = St-Anne's College Oxford Coat Of Arms.svg
Generates , and you can change the size with |marksize=, like at University of Oxford Map. Bellezzasolo Discuss 14:22, 25 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@APG1984: I sorted out the issue with the map. It turns out, that was happening becuase of spaces between the locations. Newlines are fine, spaces aren't. Frankly, that sort of sensitivity is ridiculous! Bellezzasolo Discuss 14:54, 25 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This needs a review by the administrators

It is about an anti-Semitic user who denies the existence of the Hebrew people at Talk:Hebrew language. This user is reported[3] for 3RR violations and saved his ass unblocked. The result of the report is "page protected". So I please ask you for intervention. Because I saw you are the only one who noted that this user did an Obvious 3RR violation. The user denied any responsibility and claimed to have "misunderstood" the three revert rule. It is interesting that a year ago the user was reported again for a 3RR violation at the same article and pretended AGAIN to have misunderstood the rule, and in the report[4] from Iyyar, 5777 the 3RR was explained to the linguist: "Actually, the 3RR states: An editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page-whether involving the same or different material." It is even more interesting what this "misunderstanding" linguist said after being asked why couldn't learn the rule for so much time. This user then acknowledged understanding and held another lie switching from "misunderstanding" to "forgetting" the 3RR. Very arrogant and obvious lies. The violation of reverts plus the contradicting lying to the admins and personal attacks justify a long or idefenite block. Could you please ask the admins to review the result of the report "Page protected"? I am just curious what the review of these lies would be. Reverted edit in the article about Copenhagen metropolitan area

Hi Bellezzasolo!

I think you reverted my edit (i.e erasing a section in the article) by mistake. The article was about several definitions of the metropolitan area of Copenhagen. The definition presented in the section I was about to erase was a complete speculation by a wikipedian. The population and areal figures were indeed correctly sourced (as you pointed out). However, the areal division/definition (i.e which municipalities to be included in the definition) has never been mentioned elsewhere and were arbitrarily chosen by the wikipedian (since it lacked any source what so ever).

Regards --NiccoUrban (talk) 00:40, 1 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again!
I erased the section giving a more comprehensive explanation. Since I am quite new att wikipedia I would like to know if I did this correctly. Or should I have left the wrong section in order to discuss it?

Miscellaneous

 • In late November, an attacker compromised multiple accounts, including at least four administrator accounts, and used them to vandalize Wikipedia. If you have ever used your current password on any other website, you should change it immediately. Sharing the same password across multiple websites makes your account vulnerable, especially if your password was used on a website that suffered a data breach. As these incidents have shown, these concerns are not pure fantasies.
 • Wikipedia policy requires administrators to have strong passwords. To further reinforce security, administrators should also consider enabling two-factor authentication. A committed identity can be used to verify that you are the true account owner in the event that your account is compromised and/or you are unable to log in.

Believer's Eastern Church

Hello Bellezzasolo - I'm not sure why you said I didn't quote a reliable source when I edited the Believer's Eastern Church page[1]. The source I cited (and I cite a source) is the church's own website[2]. Can you please explain to me how that is not a reliable source? Thank you!--Elfgirl13 (talk) 23:13, 4 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Elfgirl13: I believe that I was looking at this change. A lot of banter can look like that, which is why I reverted, although further research shows several sources supporting this. Also worth consideration is WP:BLP, which means that ideally sources would be independent (the church website most certainly is not an independent source), but it seems to indeed be the case. Oh. I tried it on test wiki and it seemed to be working. There are a few problems:
 1. Administrators need to have the "rollback" flag to use the script (line 229 "if (Morebits.userIsInGroup('rollbacker'))" should include "sysop" group as well)
 2. The box doesn't close after clicking the nuke user button (as mentioned)

@Abelmoschus Esculentus: Well, it might not have been that at all. I think it probably was related to ratelimits. I've updated the code now, it should avoid that. It would also explain why it works on sysop accounts. Bellezzasolo Discuss 16:37, 7 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Pkbwcgs: it looks good to me on first inspection, although I notice both templates don't have testcases, which makes merging fun. NPR Newsletter No.16 15 December 2018

Hello Bellezzasolo,

Reviewer of the Year

This year's award for the Reviewer of the Year goes to Onel5969. Around on Wikipedia since 2011, their staggering number of 26,554 reviews over the past twelve months makes them, together with an additional total of 275,285 edits, one of Wikipedia's most prolific users.

Thanks are also extended for their work to JTtheOG (15,059 reviews), Boleyn (12,760 reviews), Cwmhiraeth (9,001 reviews), Semmendinger (8,440 reviews), PRehse (8,092 reviews), Arthistorian1977 (5,306 reviews), Abishe (4,153 reviews), Barkeep49 (4,016 reviews), and Elmidae (3,615 reviews).
Cwmhiraeth, Semmendinger, Barkeep49, and Elmidae have been New Page Reviewers for less than a year — Barkeep49 for only seven months, while Boleyn, with an edit count of 250,000 since she joined Wikipedia in 2008, has been a bastion of New Page Patrol for many years.

See also the list of top 100 reviewers.

Less good news, and an appeal for some help

The backlog is now approaching 5,000, and still rising. There are around 640 holders of the NPR flag, most of whom appear to be inactive. The 10% of the reviewers who do 90% of the work could do with some support especially as some of them are now taking a well deserved break.

Really good news - NPR wins the Community Wishlist Survey 2019

At #1 position, the Community Wishlist poll closed on 3 December with a resounding success for NPP, reminding the WMF and the volunteer communities just how critical NPP is to maintaining a clean encyclopedia and the need for improved tools to do it. A big 'thank you' to everyone who supported the NPP proposals. See the results.

Training video

Due to a number of changes having been made to the feed since this three-minute video was created, we have been asked by the WMF for feedback on the video with a view to getting it brought up to date to reflect the new features of the system. Please leave your comments here, particularly mentioning how helpful you find it for new reviewers.

Sir, Wikipedia should only have relevant and neutral details, and in no way do i intend to malign the editor's image.

Citing NOPR without elaborating is extremely problematic. This links to Paid Editing, so you're essentially accusing other editors of undisclosed paid editing. This is a form of casting aspersions, and needs to stop. Bellezzasolo Discuss 17:45, 26 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The fact is that there are many haters of Anu Malik, and there have been many attempts to malign his image. Posting about someone life's controversy is in no way a neutral act. However, i should have given the reason as "Violation of NPOV policy". Sorry for that! Moreover, Wikipedia should only contain neutral, relevant and point to point details. I understand my responsibility as Wikipedia's editor and i assure you that whatever edit i do will be as per Wikipedia's rules only. Kindly reply about this to me within 48 hours, otherwise that portion is destined to be removed. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nkupad (talkcontribs)

(edit conflict × 3) @Nkupad: The thrust of your point seems to be that the controversy section is given undue weight. It doesn't look that way to me, but I'm certainly no expert on the subject. Regarding NPOV/NPOR, mistakes happen! No harm has been done, especially since the last comment I saw regarding it was somebody who didn't know that NPOR linked to paid editing. Issue with "admin highlighter" script

Greetings,
I hope you're having a great day, and I come here to report a bug. You stated that the script shows administrator and various user groups, all with different unique colors. While the administrator blue is working, both the pending changes reviewer highlighting is not working, both on ToBeFree's signature, and my signature, I'm not seeing any highlight except white. I've also seen no highlight in pink for template editors. I haven't edited the script at all, and just installed it. I'm wondering if I did something wrong, and if I didn't, if you could fix this bug. Thank you for all of your contributions to scripts and templates, it is strongly appreciated.

Stop this nasty IP address person

The only reason why that IP address user is vandalising my talk page is because I told him off for his rudeness. I don't think he'll ever go away as he hops between IPs.

If you can, could you or an administrator lock my talk page from IP editing until this is all sorted? Luigitehplumber (talk) 21:19, 31 December 2018 (UTC) ≤:(talk page stalker) No need to protect the page. I blocked the IP. If they switch, have someone block the /64 for a short bit and you should be fine. TonyBallioni (talk) 21:22, 31 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Someone's already put my talk page up on the protection bit. I'm saying as the IP is a hopper evading a previous block. He threatened me that he would vandalise my page when his normal IP account is unbanned. Luigitehplumber (talk) 21:24, 31 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict × 2) @LTPHarry: I certainly can't do it, since I'm not an admin. To be honest, I don't think you're going to get your talk page protected without a more significant history of banter, see Wikipedia:Protection policy#User talk pages. You can certainly have your user page protected at your request - this edit threatens your user page. Bellezzasolo Discuss 21:26, 31 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Administrators' newsletter – January 2019

News and updates for administrators from the past month (December 2018).

Guideline and policy news

 1. G14 (new): Disambiguation pages that disambiguate only zero or one existing pages are now covered under the new G14 criterion (discussion). This is db-disambig; the text is unchanged and candidates may be found in Category:Candidates for speedy deletion as unnecessary disambiguation pages.
 2. R4 (new): Redirects in the file namespace (and no file links) that have the same name as a file or redirect at Commons are now covered under the new R4 criterion (discussion). This is db-redircom; the text is unchanged.
 3. G13 (expanded): Userspace drafts containing only the default Article Wizard text are now covered under G13 along with other drafts (discussion). Such blank drafts are now eligible after six months rather than one year, and taggers continue to use db-blankdraft.

Technical news

 • Starting on December 13, the Wikimedia Foundation security team implemented new password policy and requirements. Privileged accounts (administrators, bureaucrats, checkusers, oversighters, interface administrators, bots, edit filter managers/helpers, template editors, et al.) must have a password at least 10 characters in length. All accounts must have a password:
 1. At least 8 characters in length
 2. Not in the 100,000 most popular passwords (defined by the Password Blacklist library)
 3. Different from their username
User accounts not meeting these requirements will be prompted to update their password accordingly. More information is available on MediaWiki.org.
 • Blocked administrators may now block the administrator that blocked them. This was done to mitigate the possibility that a compromised administrator account would block all other active administrators, complementing the removal of the ability to unblock oneself outside of self-imposed blocks. A request for comment is currently in progress to determine whether the blocking policy should be updated regarding this change.
 • Copyvio-revdel now has a link to open the history with the RevDel checkboxes already filled in.

Arbitration

Miscellaneous

 • Accounts continue to be compromised on a regular basis. Evidence shows this is entirely due to the accounts having the same password that was used on another website that suffered a data breach. If you have ever used your current password on any other website, you should change it immediately.
 • Around 22% of admins have enabled two-factor authentication, up from 20% in June 2018. If you haven't already enabled it, please consider doing so. Regardless of whether you use 2FA, please practice appropriate account security by ensuring your password is secure and unique to Wikimedia.

since the point of adding to wikipedia was to reproduce it on his own twitter feed I would use some caution as to how much you pursue discussion; it appears to be just fodder for his followers. Just my opinion but at least one response to his banter has appeared on his twitter already.18abruce (talk) 22:26, 2 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Is a level 4 template necessary for the first offence? Normally, I start with a level 1 template, or a level 2 at the highest. I guess a high initial warning could be applicable for Hitler-related banter. ᴀɴᴏɴʏᴍᴜᴤᴤ ᴜᴤᴇʀ (ᴛᴀʟᴋ) 15:13, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You may directly issue a 4-im (final warning) template directly without going throguh all 4. There is no rules or policies restricting you from doing so. Serious banter / troll should be reported to AIV right away without warnings per WP:DENY. Abelmoschus Esculentus (talkcontribs) 15:18, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) @Anonymuss User: Yeah, with a first edit like that, and the second edit using a racial slur like "Chink", I think it's pretty clear what further edits will be. Factoring in the username issue too, I think that one warning was enough, and any further similar editing would result in a NOTHERE block (as it has). Mukhtar Ansari is a Mafia Don turned Politician, please tell the whole truth, don't try to hide the facts

Hi 180.151.104.149, in Mohammad Hamid Ansari, there is a list of politicians for whom we have no reference of them being mafia dons. While one may be a former mafia-don, I don't think it's hugely relevant. We definitely don't want to infer that the others are, though. Bellezzasolo Discuss 12:34, 11 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Are you trying to hide the fact, are you pedaling the false narrative, you should be ashamed of saying that a dreaded Mafia don is politician. Help on request edi

Extended content

Hello, thank you for your reply. I would like the text below for Request Edit.

I will take your advice, and try the Request Edit first for this wikipedia profile. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Dellert_Dellacroix

Thomas Dellert-Bergh also known as Thomas Dellacroix and Tommy Dollar  a name given to him by American Pop artist Andy Warhol (born 12 July 1963) is a Swedish multimedia artist, photographer, painter, actor, singer, songwriter, poet, film maker, director, fashion designer,

and interior decorator.

As a singer and Musical artist He started his music career as Pontius Pilate in the rock musical Jesus Christ Superstar Pop Rock in Stockholm in an early version in 1970. In 1973 he performed in the first drag shows and neo cabarets in Stockholm like the legendary Club Alexandras Eccentric Cabaret. This is where he made his first Sinatra tributes on stage. He was one of the original Punk Rockers in London in 1975 and toured with the Sex Pistols and later became the lead singer of his own Punk band The Resistance. In the later seventies he toured with the Musical two for the Se-saw all over Scandinavia. In 1981 he did the costumes for the cult Musical The Rocky Horror Show in Gothenburg and in 1983 he was the Director and narrator of the same musical at the China Theatre in Stockholm in a star studded cast. He also played the principal part of Gerald Bollingbroke in the musical Me and My Girl at Intiman in Stockholm. Thomas has also worked for Cameron Mackintosh several times. He sang the parts of Grantaire, Bamatabois, as well as Javert in the Swedish original cast version of the musical Les Misérables. [8] This was also made into both a record and a TV program. He has also recorded the Phantom of the Opera and in the German Stuttgart production of Miss Saigon he sang the principal part of the Engineer. He also sings Cabaret and Sunset Boulevard. As the Jazz singer and vintage crooner Tommy D he has performed around the world in jazz clubs and other venues singing the repertoire of Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and Kurt Weill. He has recently done the final mix on his Swedish jazz album "Resan hem " the journey home. With 50 of the best musicians in Scandinavia. In 2013 He directed and performed in his own Berlin Cabaret in The Berlin Art Loft in Wedding.

As a Photographer As a contemporary art photographer, he has had as well over 50 international exhibits in museums and galleries, as many international art photography magazine covers, and extensive reportage.[9]

Photo Scandinavia did the biggest single reportage in the history of the magazine since its start, when on 11 pages, they showed 48 pictures of Dellacroix & Dellfina.

"Self-portraits have practically existed since the beginning of art, but to do "self-portraits of others" it seems to be something that Dellacroix and Dellfina are quite alone with on the artistic scene. Contemporary, it feels both visually and meaningfully wise. It is an art form on the borderline between reality and illusion."[13] Jan Almlöf, editor in chief of PHOTO (Foto) Scandinavia As a contemporar, provocative art photographer he has worked under the name of Dellacroix in symbiosis with former wife and partner Agnieszka Dellert-Dellfina between 2001 to 2012 when they divorced and went separate ways . He has also collaborated with photographer Ellen von Unwerth, photographer Bruno Ehrs photographer Raphael Yoshitomi photographer Philipp Mueller and Artist Rainer Laakso and Balthazar Silviera. He now lives and work with Ruby Vava Venezia since 2013.

As a Contemporary Visual Artist He has had over 100 International exhibitions during the last 30 years. He is represented in collections like The Absolut Vodka Collection, The Heinz collection the Swedish Royal family Collection, and in several museums, like the . He has ben the official artist for both Absolut Vodka and Mercedes Benz. Death and fame is a central theme in Dellert's works, and he uses irony and humor mixed with horror as one of his main tools. His work has a strong, humanistic approach, and he uses powerful images to show the horrors of war and genocide.[3][4][5] He warns about all fanatical, racial and fundamentalistic thinking in his art. After meeting Andy Warhol in 1976 he made a series of hand printed silk screens in collaboration with his childhood friends Bruno Ehrs and Rainer Laakso. This art prints was presented to Warhol in his Factory in new York in 1980. A well documented event. He inspired Warhol with his camouflage prints that later became Warhols own art expression. The same happened with artist Jean Michel Basquiat who visited Dellert's exhibit in New York 1982. All paintings by Dellert was then framed with ropes in larger then canvas wood frames. After the exhibit Thomas left all frames on the street outside the art gallery on St Marx Place a few meters away from the home of Basquiat. He brought them home and this new framing technique became his trade mark. Dellert works with painting, collage, photography, installation, video, hand printed silk screen, and junk sculpture. CRITIC VOICES Art critic and historian Jonas Stampe writes in the book Reality and Illusion in 2006 that "Thomas Dellert-Dellacroix got to know Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring in New York in the 1980's. Before that in 1976 he had become friend with Andy Warhol who gave him the nickname "Tommy Dollar" because of his fascination for everything of American value at the time. The artistic exchange was mutual. Warhol got inspired by Thomas Dellert's camouflage silk screens and later did his own series of camouflage prints."[14]And came to the conclusion that "Jean Michel Basquiat let himself be inspired by Thomas' way of stretching his canvases with ropes and in wood frames that crossed each other in the corners that Thomas used for his exhibit in New York in 1982 at the Lucky Strike Gallery in collaboration with Rainer Laakso. (...)To discover an artist like Thomas Dellert-Dellacroix is not only exciting, it is surprising. Indeed, it is unbelievable that this Swedish artist has not yet been more appreciated in his homeland. The Swedish black hole is frightening. When he himself writes about his fascination for "the gap between fame and misfortune", I immediately think about his own artistry, but naturally also about so many other artists that did not get discovered. To pass by an artist like Dellert-Dellacroix is difficult. It is absolutely clear that he is one of the most interesting Swedish artist we have today. Probably he will become one of the more well known Swedish artist on the international art scene. Not only because his works touch us, or are artistically expressive or because they talk to us about our epoch and future. But mostly because they shine of that courage that carries art and life forward."[15] The American art critic John Orr wrote in the Miami chronicle 1986 after the exhibition at the James Baker Gallery in West Palm Beach USA: "This young man who is all truth and every fiber a passionate artist, I took him to see the Rauschenberg exhibition at Helander Gallery, for this is one of his mentors. I shall review this exhibition soon, but upon my first glance his pictures and collages seemed to contain a very gentle beauty that made "my rebel" Dellert appear as a Titan by comparison. Perhaps age is creeping upon me too quickly. I handed this meteor over to Bruce Helander and as I drove away I felt spent and weary, incapable and sterile. The little energy that remained within me was drained with humble admiration for an almost unknown artist whose place in the history of art is already reserved and waiting for him."[16]

As a Fashion Designer To se the 2019 Fashion designs for summer teenage dresses, bags, scarves, jackets, jeans, suitcases, and perfumes

As an Actor As an actor he has worked with the Swedish legendary stage and film director Ingmar Bergman He has worked as an actor on the Royal Dramatic Theatre,The Royal Court Theatre, RiksTheatre tour, Swedish Television, Swedish Radio, etc he also has over 50 short films to his credit.

As an Original Punk Rocker He got in touch with the punk movement in 1975, while living in London. In 1977, Tommy Dollar got close to the members of the Sex Pistols, and later took care of when they came to Stockholm.[9] Then, he had already opened his Punk Gallery "Suicide" in the old town, Stockholm, with a mix of art galleries for punk expressions and a store for hand-made designed arty punk clothes by Tommy Dollar . At the same time, he started one of the first punk bands in Stockholm under the name of "Tommy Dollar & The Resistance", a short-lasting affair. He was portrayed in the cult movie PUNK a Kick in the as by the director and playwright Stig Larsson.[10] He later hung out with the Sex Pistols in Paris, France, and one night was almost killed accidentally by Sid Vicious, the former bass player of the band.

As a Jazz crooner As a vintage jazz "Crooner" he has as performed in legendary venues like Club St German, La Bilboquet, and Chez Maxims in Paris, France as in the trendy New York club Nell's, and the legendary Cabaret Club, and the Torture Garden (fetish club), all placed in London. He has recently been performing the American Songbook in citys like Berlin, and Vinice and Miami.

Personal life Thomas Dellert was born in Stockholm. Infobox school cleanup discussion enquiry

Hi Bellezzasolo, hope you're well. Not sure if you remember me, but you might remember me from the Infobox UK school TFD merge discussion we had a while back. The merge was a success which I'm really pleased, UK schools are benefiting from the improved look and additional parameters. Thanks for supporting the merge :) - I just wanted to ask if you would be interested in taking part in the Infobox school cleanup discussion on the Infobox school talk page? It's basically a full cleanup of the infobox such as list of parameters to be merged and deleted. There are already parameters listed under relevant subsections with a reason, it's mainly the merge and delete completely that needs comment on. You would only need to comment under each bullet point, you don't have to comment anything detailed, just simply "support" or "oppose" and signed would be good to help build consensus. Please let me know, thank you Steven (Editor) (talk) 21:43, 17 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Canada Food Guide

Hello Bellezzasolo,

Can you explain to my why you do not want the "Canada Food Guide" page updated? The new Food Guide was released to the public this week and the wiki page should reflect the new Guide. https://food-guide.canada.ca/en/

(Wholeplantfoodie (talk) 17:18, 23 January 2019 (UTC)wholeplantfoodieWholeplantfoodie (talk) 17:18, 23 January 2019 (UTC)) --Wholeplantfoodie (talk) 17:18, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Wholeplantfoodie, because a lot of information is being lost (e.g. fruit and veg). A section about the new revision would be far more helpful. Bellezzasolo Discuss 17:23, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Flooded with them hundreds' user scripts

Dear all. Recently, our community lost a dedicated user, Flooded with them hundreds (talk). Among their projects were a number of user scripts that were deleted when they left. I (DannyS712) have asked that they be undeleted, and have taken over maintaining them. You currently import Flooded's (deleted) script, and I thought that you might want to import a working version. Links to each script are provided below.

Care to explain disruptive editing warning?

@Bellezzasolo: Hello, I'm kind of new to Wikipedia but you left me a message I was disruptive editing but I'm not sure what I edit I did to get a warning. OverlordBaron (talk) 04:50, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@OverlordBaron: That relates to this edit. I clearly misread who added the banter, sorry about that! Bellezzasolo Discuss 14:15, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Bellezzasolo, I thought I could disturb you this morning, sorry for that. I am drafting an article and would wish you go through it and propose changes to it. If you find it to be fit for the article page, you can at your capacity move. Kindly talk back so I can finish it up.Christopher Odhiambo (talk) 09:02, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Christopher Odhiambo:, in my view the tone is still too promotional to move from draftspace, at the moment. I've so far done simple grammatical and stylistic fixes, and am looking at the tone now. Bellezzasolo Discuss 20:45, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Bellezzasolo:, Thank you so much. I will as well look at the tone together with you. I appreciate your assistance, and I think it is going to make me enjoy editing in Wikipedia.Christopher Odhiambo (talk) 22:11, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Bellezzasolo:, Anything please on this article?Christopher Odhiambo (talk) 16:00, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Christopher Odhiambo, The line He currently has more than 10 years experience in digital content, publications and distribution,[5] with another solid ground in the field of cryptocurrency, initial coin offering (ICO) and finance. sounds too much like something from a Resume. When talking about his companies, it sounds again a bit promotional. Finally, the publications section needs stripping down to maybe the one or two most notable ones. Bellezzasolo Discuss 16:06, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Bellezzasolo Thank you for your time. I suppose the best thing to do is to strip down the part of the companies just as in the publications.Christopher Odhiambo (talk) 16:12, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Christopher Odhiambo, that would be my instinct, keeping it relevant to the topic. For example, Bill Gates's article does have coverage of Microsoft, but it's kept to what Gates himself was involved in. Bellezzasolo Discuss 16:15, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Bellezzasolo Kindly check it out.Christopher Odhiambo (talk) 16:42, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Bellezzasolo, would you mind helping here, when I do google search for Sam Enrico Williams, it is the talk page that appears and not the article page.Christopher Odhiambo (talk) 01:28, 28 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

TheFamousPeople.com as a source

Hi Bellezzasolo. I noticed that you recently used thefamouspeople.com as a source for biographical information in [Jeremy Ray Taylor]]. Please note that there is general consensus that thefamouspeople.com does not meet the reliable sourcing criteria for such information. (Discussions here and here). If you disagree, let's discuss it. Thanks. --Ronz (talk) 19:36, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Scripts++ Newsletter – Issue 2

Toofan Singh

Can you describe your addition of tag[5] to the article? Harmanprtjhj (talk) 19:40, 30 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Harmanprtjhj: quotes like this - he was allegedly involved in 150 killings., with only a passing mention, while talking about protection from extortion with equal weight, make me doubt the neutrality of this article. Bellezzasolo Discuss 23:06, 30 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It has been written like that because that is what those reliable sources say. I can provide you the snippets from the original source. Harmanprtjhj (talk) 03:13, 31 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Guideline and policy news

 • A request for comment is currently open to reevaluate the activity requirements for administrators.
 • Administrators who are blocked have the technical ability to block the administrator who blocked their own account. A recent request for comment has amended the blocking policy to clarify that this ability should only be used in exceptional circumstances, such as account compromises, where there is a clear and immediate need.
 • A request for comment closed with a consensus in favor of deprecating The Sun as a permissible reference, and creating an edit filter to warn users who attempt to cite it.

Technical news

 • A discussion regarding an overhaul of the format and appearance of Wikipedia:Requests for page protection is in progress (permalink). The proposed changes will make it easier to create requests for those who are not using Twinkle. The workflow for administrators at this venue will largely be unchanged. Additionally, there are plans to archive requests similar to how it is done at WP:PERM, where historical records are kept so that prior requests can more easily be searched for.

Miscellaneous

 • Voting in the 2019 Steward elections will begin on 08 February 2019, 14:00 (UTC) and end on 28 February 2019, 13:59 (UTC). The confirmation process of current stewards is being held in parallel. You can automatically check your eligibility to vote.
 • A new IRC bot is available that allows you to subscribe to notifications when specific filters are tripped. This requires that your IRC handle be identified.

DS alert script

Hi Bellezzasolo. I've used this script of yours twice in the last day, and both times it's behaved somewhat funny. First, I essentially need to click through twice to circumvent the edit-filter; I cannot just "confirm" my first attempt to give an alert (but I imagine this is intentional, and mention it only as a suggestion). When I do click through the second time, the popup window displays a message in red, saying "this user has been notified of the sanctions" or something similar. When I click on that message, it links to this edit of mine, which was completely unrelated to the users in question. Any help here? Vanamonde (Talk) 02:06, 6 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Vanamonde93, what's happening there is that it picks up on the edit filter hit that was triggered by the first run. Of course, since the action was a warning, there's no associated diff, hence the linked diff is undefined, which seems to just give the latest revision of the main page. Regarding the edit filter, I did try to circumvent it by saving twice - alas, no luck on that front so far. Sorting that out would resolve the phantom notification issue too, but I've added a few lines to sort that out. Bellezzasolo Discuss 02:17, 6 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting. It's not a major inconvenience, it just necessitated an extra click. Is that part of the script actually supposed to scan through user talk history for DS alerts? Vanamonde (Talk) 02:24, 6 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Vanamonde93, yes, each DS alert hits the edit filter, so it's just a question of searching the filter log for the last year. It really makes the edit filter obsolete given that searching AE is optional (my script doesn't do that). Bellezzasolo Discuss 02:30, 6 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
In that case, if the search returns no hits, shouldn't the script tell me the user hasn't been warned, or at least that no hits to the edit-filter have been found? Vanamonde (Talk) 02:41, 6 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Wilmot Elementary Page - "Not notable"

Hi Bellezzasolo,

Hope you're doing well! I saw you redirected my page on Wilmont Elementary because it wasn't notable enough. I'm new to editing on Wikipedia, I was hoping you might be able to share with me how best to determine if an institution is notable enough for a Wikipedia page.

Thanks!

--JohnAnderson1776 (talk) 18:16, 8 February 2019 (UTC) John Anderson[reply]

Hi JohnAnderson1776. Mostly, notability is determined by the Wikipedia:General Notability Guideline. There's a whole list of supplementary notability guidelines to the right, which work in conjunction with that. Regarding schools, secondary schools that are shown to exist are presumed notable, but primary schools are not. Exceptions to that rule are e.g. the oldest primary school in a given country, with sources (i.e. if the GNG is satisfied). Thanks! Bellezzasolo Discuss 13:56, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
