'''Gabriella''' |
|||
Gabriella is lead detective on the case, and a closed book - even her partner knows very little about her, admitting to her that their coworkers question her sexuality (though it has no bearing on her ability to do her job). Gabriella often takes calls from her mother, begging her to visit her sister who lives on her own but has a mental health disorder that requires medical attention and medication. She must split her focus between her family life and her career, although it's clear that she would prefer her cases to take precedence. |

'''Tóti''' |
|||
Gabriella's partner, Tóti is hesitant to put his faith in his partner, although this changes over time when evidence comes to light that proves she is right. Tóti is married to a woman who is his complete opposite, and who puts Gabriella on the spot when they invite her over for dinner for the first time. |

'''Ilmur''' |
|||
Ilmur is the live in girlfriend and partner of Logi, and a successful hacker who can infiltrate even the most secure networks. She puts up Logi's philandering, until Benedik sends videos of Logi's (unbeknownst to her) drunken transgressions with underage Hanna. It's Ilmur who provides the police with information on Logi, which leads to his arrest, and then provides them with the evidence necessary to free Logi and convict Benedikt. |

'''Þór (Thor)''' |
|||
An entrepreneur who uses private and personal information to blackmail people into getting what he wants. He is also a pimp, and tricks out girls like Hanna. Þór records incriminating video of the murder suspect and is killed because of it. |

Réttur (Icelandic: [ˈrjɛhtʏr̥], Court) is an Icelandic TV series. It was created and produced by Sigurjón Kjartansson of RVK Studios.[1][2][3] Retitled Case and The Court in English-language markets, Réttur was picked up by NBC and producer Howard Gordon for a US remake.[4] Seasons 1 and 2 feature a different case every episode, while season 3 is a single case that gets solved throughout the season.[1][2][3]
Plot
Réttur is about a teenage girl, Lára, who is found hanging in a theater - detectives Gabriella and Toti take up the challenge. At first it is believed that the girl committed suicide, however, the Gabriella does not believe this to be the case, and so doggedly pursues a murder charge, while everyone around her pushes for the case to be closed quickly and quietly.
Lára's parents are close friends with lawyer Brynhilder, who is partners in a law firm that deals almost exclusively with cases where young girls and women with little financial resources or recourse are the victims of sexual assault. Brynhilder enlists the help of her ex-lover Logi Traustason, a disgraced former lawyer and alcoholic who lives and works with a seasoned hacker, Ilmur.
Their investigations uncover a dark web of secrets, drug abuse, prostitution and abuse that reaches the highest echelons of business and community.
Together they solve court cases which often brings them all too close to their cases and subjects of the Icelandic society.
