This non-free media file has been set up with as small a version as possible, to comply with Wikipedia's non-free content policy and United States copyright law. The current resolution has been manually selected to achieve as small an image as possible without destroying the image content. According to Wikipedia's policy for non-free content, the amount of non-free work should be as little as possible. In particular, non-free media on Wikipedia should not be usable as substitutes for the original work.

Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) The company issues debit cards, this image will serve to illustrate an example debit card that the company has issued.

free media because (WP:NFCC#1) By the very nature of the image, this is a card design and includes copyrighted font faces, trademarks etc. It cannot be replaced.

Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3) The image has been resized to 30% of its original size. Please note that this image deliberately exceeds the 100,000 pixel threshold in order to ensure that smaller elements such as the "Expiry End" text and the trademark indicators adjacent to the Mastercard wordmark and logo are readable. This is in line with the Mastercard brand guidelines.

An illustration on a Wikipedia page is unlikely to harm the commercial interests of the company. If Wikipedia were issuing cards as a bank with the same design, it would be another matter - but that's not what's happening here.
