Harrison Houde (born March 26, 1996) is a Canadian actor, producer, director, YouTuber, and musician currently best known for his role as Bowie Sherman on the Canadian show Some Assembly Required. His first acting role was "Darren Walsh" in the 2010 American film Diary of a Wimpy Kid. In the YouTube community, he's well known for his comedic sketches, vlogs, and comedic music videos.
Early life
This section of a biography of a living person does not include any references or sources. (March 2015) |
Houde was born on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. He became a musician at a very young age, and while doing this he developed an interest in creating videos and acting while making YouTube videos. All of this has led Harrison toward his professional career in the film and music industries. He graduated from Kwalikum Secondary School in 2014.
Music
When he was only 4 years old, he began playing the piano and subsequently had his first recital. He discovered that he had an ear for music. He had always wanted to learn to play multiple instruments and understand music theory to improve his musical abilities. He begged his parents to allow him to play guitar and drums. After years of practice and dedication, they surprised him with his very own drum kit on Christmas when he was 12. [citation needed] His talent as a musician has grown, and he now composes/writes original scores which have aired on TV,[1] as well as in his YouTube videos, and short films. He also now plays a variety of synth lead, keys, drums, percussion, and instruments alike, creating tracks.
Acting
Harrison started acting in local theatre and school plays, as well as in his own YouTube videos whilst growing up. In 2009, he attended John Robert Powers School in Vancouver and studied acting for three years before beginning to audition in the industry. He landed his first role in Diary of a Wimpy Kid in 2010. He was nominated and won a Joey Award for his work in Some Assembly Required on November 16, 2014, under the category Best Young Actor age 10-19 or younger in a TV Series Comedy/Action Leading Role.[2] In 2015 Harrison was named Hollywood Reporters young up-and-coming rising stars to watch from Canada.[3] Harrison won a Canadian Screen Award in 2016 for best host of a youth/kids series for his work on Finding Stuff Out.
Television
In early 2010, Houde began hosting a television show called Finding Stuff Out, produced by Apartment 11 Productions.[4] In this award nominated and winning educational TV program he teaches young viewers about life and science. It currently airs on TVOKids, Discovery Kids, Pop TV Kids (UK), and Knowledge Network BC.
On January 6, 2014, he joined the cast of the brand new Canadian sitcom Some Assembly Required, which premiered on the YTV Channel and is on Netflix worldwide.[5][6] Harrison plays "Bowie" Jarvis' best friend at a toy company. He done loads of amazing stuff on his show.
In 2017 Harrison appeared in an episode of Rogue.
In 2018 he appeared on an episode of iZombie, The Hollow, and in the movie Summer of '84.
YouTube
Houde began making comedy sketches, creative music videos, and a variety of other YouTube videos in January 2008. Only weeks after attending VidCon 2010, his audience grew dramatically and he was finally accepted into the YouTube partnership program mid-2010.
In addition, thanks to the success of his most recognizable character "Corndog Cheesefingers", as of March 11, 2014, he has 12,000 Subscribers[7] to his main channel alone.
In early 2013 he signed with the YouTube network the Collective Digital Studios based in Beverly Hills, CA.
His most notable achievements in the YouTube community to date have been attending VidCon as a guest panelist in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2014; being featured twice on iJustine, on WhatTheBuckShow, and being in a MakeMeBad35 video. As well he has collaborated with many YouTube personalities such as Swoozie, WinterSpringPro (Joey Graceffa, Brittany Joyal), SteveGreeneComedy (Catt Lauer Interview), among others.
In early 2016 Harrison left his YouTube network (Collective Digital Studios now known as Studio71), and is pursuing the creation of traditional content.
In 2017 Harrison continues the development and creation of traditional content, and content for the YouTube and digital space.
