The first Thai Formula One driver was Prince Bira who took part in 19 world championship races between 1950 and 1954.[6] He would score 8 points and have a highest finishing position of forth place which he achieved at the 1950 Swiss and 1954 French Grand Prix.[6][7] His highest finishing position at the end of a season would be 8th in 1950.[6]
