Because he was of perfect draft age during the Vietnam War, no biography would be complete without mentioning what he did about military service or how he avoided it. Most of the people who edit Wikipedia are too young to know about the Vietnam era and its conscription pressures, but even a slight knowledge of the history of that era will show that it was far and away the major issue during this gentleman's college years and those soon thereafter.

"Glassman is an American libertarian editorialist." What is libertarian about him? Intangible 14:40, 11 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Dow 36000?

Was Glassman wrong about this? I've not read his book, but two questions come to mind.

  • Did he predict that the Dow would rise from its 1999 levels without any intervening recessions?, and
  • By when did he predict that the Dow would hit 36000?

Without knowing the answers to these, I am reluctant to say that he has been proven wrong. 72.154.88.254 06:00, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Moronically stupid posts don't improve wiki: "reluctant to say he has been proven wrong" ??? Without even reading the book or bothering to look at the stock market!? Glassman stated categorically that USA shares were undervalued (on a PE of 30) and that the market would rise 3-4 times in real terms within a decade. The exact opposite happened. He then refused to admit that his (and Kevin A. Hassett's and Jeremy J. Siegel's) reasoning was not just flawed but fraudulent. Like all economists, he simply assumed away any data that contradicted his biased view. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lekud26 (talkcontribs) 07:01, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

New Magazine

Glassman has moved on and is now editing a new magazine at The American Enterprise Institute, called The American Magazine. I am his deputy (managing editor of the magazine) and therefore, per Wikipedia guidelines, I will not make changes to his article or introduce a new article about the magazine. However, I suggest that someone should consider doing so. Also, he is now a Senior Fellow rather than a Resident Fellow.

Respectfully,

Thanks for that, Mr Robinson. I've just updated the article (finally!). CWC 14:58, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cite for Dow Jones not reaching 36,000

Until now, we've used http://www.turtletrader.com/glassman-whines.html as a source for saying that the prediction that the Dow Jones would rise to 36,000 "proved to be drastically off the mark". I suspect that an online trading advice/marketing site is not acceptable here, per WP:ATT and WP:BLP, so I've replaced that link with http://www.opinionjournal.com/editorial/feature.html?id=110002065 (which is the article on which the turtletrader guy was commenting). That's probably not appropriate either; could someone please supply a better source? Thanks, CWC 14:58, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I know the two children mentioned are with former wife Mary. Shouldn't that be mentioned??Christin Agnes (talk) 12:02, 20 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
