Robert III de Sablé founded the l'abbaye du Bois-Renou ou du Gault.[1] in 1189. He married Hersende with whom he had a daughter, Marguerite,[1] and a son, Robert IV de Sablé.[2]

His father was Liziard, seigneur de Sablé, and both fought against Geoffroi Plante-Geneft, Comte d'Anjou.[3] The battle lasted until 1146, when they signed a treaty.[3]
