Rani Channamma University, Belagavi[3][4] is a public university established by the government of Karnataka in 2010 at Belgaum (also called Belagavi). It was created by upgrading the erstwhile Kittur Rani Channamma Post Graduate Centre at Belagavi which was established by the Karnatak University, Dharwad in 1982.[citation needed] It is named after Kitturu Rani Chennamma, the queen of the princely state of Kittur in Karnataka.[citation needed]

It has been functioning with the jurisdiction of Belagavi, Bijapur and Bagalkote districts.[citation needed]
