Ferris Independent School District is a public school district based in Ferris, Texas (USA).

In addition to Ferris, the district serves the community of Trumbull and rural areas in northeastern Ellis County. A small portion of southeastern Dallas County also lies within the district.

In 2009, the school district was rated "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency.[1]

Schools

Schools are located in the City of Ferris.

  • Ferris High School (Grades 9-12)
  • Ferris Junior High School (Grades 6-8)
  • Ferris Intermediate School (Grades 4-5)
  • Lucy Mae McDonald Elementary School (Grades 1-3)
  • Hazel Ingram Elementary School (Grades PK3-K)


Notable Alumni

Homer P. Rainey-Former University of Texas President, attended Ferris High School for 1 year.[2]
