Joker (ジョーカー, Joker) is the codename used by the protagonist of Persona 5. Although Joker's civilian name is given by the player in Persona 5 itself, in the anime adaptation and spin-off Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight, he received the name Ren Amamiya (雨宮 蓮, Amamiya Ren); the manga adaptation also gives him the one-off name Akira Kurusu (来栖 暁, Kurusu Akira).
Chrom (クロム, Chrom) is the main protagonist of Fire Emblem Awakening, descendant of Marth, father of Lucina, and close ally to Robin.

Character description
Ren Amamiya is the leader of the vigilante group known as the Phantom Thieves. After being falsely accused of assault, he was labeled a delinquent and moved to Tokyo, Japan to attend Shujin Academy as part of his probation while under the care of café owner Sojiro Sakura. While there, he discovers a strange application on his smartphone. After a chance encounter with fellow outsider Ryuji Sakamoto over their gym coach Kamoshida, they discover that the app is actually a conduit to a parallel reality called the Metaverse. This “cognition” is the manifestation of an individual’s twisted desires into a dream-like fantasy. In this case, Coach Kamoshida sees himself as the king of the academy and treats the rest of the students and faculty like peasants. Wanting no part in this reality, Ren rebels against the oppression of King Kamoshida and awakens his Persona, donning the mask and cloak of “Joker.”
Chrom is one of the three main protagonists of fireemblemwiki. A distant descendant of the Hero-King Marth, Chrom is the prince of the Halidom of fireemblemwiki, younger brother to its leader, the Exalt fireemblemwiki, and the leader of a group of Ylissean soldiers known as the fireemblemwiki. The story of Awakening begins with Chrom, his sister fireemblemwiki, and his bodyguard fireemblemwiki, finding an amnesiac tactician by the roadside who joins the Shepherds. After Ylisse's struggle against the neighboring nation of fireemblemwiki, Chrom becomes the new Exalt of Ylisse, gets married, and becomes the father of a baby girl, Lucina.

Joker is a user of a rare Persona ability known as the Wild Card, which allows him to hold multiple Personas at once. The Metaverse Navigator app and other aid in managing Joker's Personas is provided by Igor, the proprietor of the Velvet Room; a recurring feature of the Persona series. Igor warns Joker that ruin is imminent, and that his "rehabilitation," facilitated by himself and the twin wardens Caroline and Justine, is the only way to avoid this ruination.
During a war against the warmongering empire of fireemblemwiki two years later, a time-traveling Lucina from the future of another timeline reveals herself, warning Chrom of the looming threat of the Fell Dragon fireemblemwiki who had destroyed the world in her timeline. Chrom, Lucina, and the rest of the Shepherds work together to defeat fireemblemwiki of Valm, fireemblemwiki of the Grima-worshipping fireemblem, and Grima himself.

Joker's initial Persona is Arsene, based on the literary gentleman thief wikipedia. Joker awakens Arsene in order to save Ryuji in Kamoshida's palace. While attempting to escape, the pair meet a catlike creature named Morgana, who also possesses a Persona, Zorro, and mentors Joker in the use of Personas. Upon return trips to the palace, Ryuji awakens his own Persona, Captain Kidd, and the group is inadvertently joined by another of Kamoshida's victims named Ann Takamaki and her Persona, Carmen. Under guidance from Morgana, the group sends Kamoshida a calling card, announcing themselves as the Phantom Thieves of Heart, causing a treasure to manifest in the palace. The successful defeat of Kamoshida's Shadow, and theft of the treasure, results in a change of heart in the real Kamoshida. Following this success, the Phantom Thieves pursue other targets, typically corrupt adults who victimize the young, gaining a large following and reputation. Over the course of their exploits, the group grows to include artist Yusuke Kitagawa (Persona: Goemon), student council president Makoto Niijima (Persona: Johanna), reclusive hacker Futaba Sakura (Persona: Necronomicon), heiress Haru Okumura (Persona: Milady), gymnast Kasumi Yoshizawa, and briefly the detective Goro Akechi (Persona: primarily Robin Hood and formerly secondary Loki).
Chrom, like most Fire Emblem protagonists, begins in the fireemblemwiki class. His signature weapon is Falchion, inherited by the royal family of Ylisse as descendants of Marth; Chrom also uses Falchion's counterpart, the fireemblemwiki or Binding Shield. In addition to Lucina, Chrom can also be the father of another child depending on who he marries.

Since Awakening, Chrom has appeared in a number of other games. He makes an appearance in an Awakening-based mission in fireemblemwiki, where he meets Corrin. In the crossover game wikipedia, he is one of three playable Nintendo characters (alongside Lucina and Fiora). Chrom is also prominently featured as a major character in both fireemblemwiki and fireemblemwiki, and is one of the many units the player can recruit in fireemblemwiki.

Chrom appears in Lucina and Robin's trailer. In the beginning, he is shown lying on the ground after being incapacitated by Captain Falcon in battle. Lucina defends him, but is almost defeated herself. For the majority of the trailer, he is only seen laying on the ground. However, at the end, still badly hurt, he remarks that he "will get [his] chance another day;" a gameplay video immediately after this scene displays Robin’s Final Smash and states that Chrom will get it today instead, confirming his involvement as part of the Final Smash. He also appears at the top of Lucina and Robin's “New Challenger” artwork on the official website.

While he was considered to be a playable character due to the seemingly credible Gematsu leaks, he is not a playable character in SSB4. According to Masahiro Sakurai, he did initially consider adding Chrom as a playable character after playing Fire Emblem Awakening in his spare time, but denied him in favor of Robin when he saw that Chrom would end up another swordsman made redundant by the existing fighting styles of Marth and Ike, whereas Robin provided a plethora of unique moveset options. This is referenced in Pit's Smash Taunt for Robin, where Palutena and Viridi deride Chrom for being a "carbon copy" of Ike, angering Chrom by saying so.<br clear=left>

In the game, he will appear as part of Robin's Final Smash, Pair Up. After being summoned by Robin with warp magic, Chrom lunges in Robin's direction. If he successfully connects with an opponent along the way, he'll launch the opponent into the air and repeatedly attack him or her with his Falchion, while Robin will attack with various tomes. Chrom also appears in one of Robin's victory poses, where the two stand back-to-back, and also appears as a special guest character during Pit's conversations with Palutena in Palutena's Temple if Robin is present. Chrom's portraits and Critical Hit cut-in artwork from Awakening are reused in the aforementioned Smash Taunt and Pair Up, respectively.

Joker was confirmed to appear in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a playable character on December 6th, 2018 during wikipedia. He is the first DLC fighter to be part of the Fighters Pass. He was released on April 17th, 2019 along with Mementos, its 11 music tracks, and multiple Persona spirits as part of Challenger Pack 1.
Chrom finally makes his debut as a playable fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate after being a background character in the previous game, now branded as an Echo Fighter of Roy. He was revealed alongside Simon, Richter, Dark Samus, and King K. Rool in the August 2018 Smash Direct. Matthew Mercer and Tomokazu Sugita, Chrom’s recurring English and Japanese voice actors respectively since Awakening, both reprise their roles and confirmed such on Twitter.

Masahiro Sakurai, in a video interview at Atlus, revealed that he had been a longtime fan of the Persona series ever since Revelations: Persona was first released on the original PlayStation. He played Persona 5 in his spare time and was continuously impressed by the stylish user interface. It was this initially strong impression that he aimed to capture the sense of style in Joker’s moveset and the mechanics of Mementos.
Chrom’s inclusion was primarily facilitated by popular demand both within and outside of the Super Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot. In a Famitsu interview shortly following the August 2018 Smash Direct, Masahiro Sakurai revealed that Chrom and fellow Echo Fighter Dark Samus were highly requested characters but in different regions of the world; most of the support for Chrom came from Japan while Dark Samus’s came from overseas, being North America and Europe.
clrl

Chrom’s normal attacks lack the hilt sweetspot and fire effects of Roy’s Binding Blade, though his Falchion’s damage distribution is consistent throughout the sword and he adopts his sword’s sound effects. This is identical to how Lucina’s Parallel Falchion differs from Marth’s Exalted Falchion in terms of performance. Attacks such as jab and forward tilt do not have Chrom holding his sword in a reverse-grip like Roy, making his animations slightly different. Chrom’s Flare Blade is identical in function and KO power to Roy’s and can even be turned around mid-charge, but lack his explosive fire effects. His Double-Edge Dance is a series of four rapid sword slashes that can be angled to alter the direction of the swings. His up special, Soaring Slash, is adapted from Ike’s Aether in which Chrom launches his opponent skyward before slamming them back to the ground. His Counter is similar in property to Roy’s, having a 1.35x multiplier but also a high falling speed in midair, making it risky to use for edgeguarding offstage. Finally, his Final Smash, Awakening Aether, is functionally more similar to Marth and Lucina’s Critical Hit as Chrom dashes forward to catch opponents rather than standing still.

As a background character
Despite being a separate playable fighter, Robin continues to summon Chrom in their Final Smash Pair Up and Chrom continues to appear in one of Robin's victory screens as well. And despite the fact that Robin and Lucina now have an original victory theme inspired by Fire Emblem Awakening’s “Id ~ Purpose”, Chrom does not use it and instead shares the standard Fire Emblem victory theme with Marth, Roy, and Ike (this has been fixed as of version 3.0.0). The Chrom Mii Swordfighter costume also returns as an unlockable after being DLC in the previous installment.

*As of Ultimate, Joker, Lucas and Captain Olimar are the only characters who have non-playable characters assist them with both normal and special moves. *Joker is one of four characters featured in the Super Smash Bros. series to appear in M-rated games, the other three being Solid Snake, Bayonetta and Simon Belmont.
**Interestingly, Chrom had been considered to be clone to a different character, as stated by Viridi in Palutena's Guidance for Smash for Wii U.
*Joker is one of three fighters to use an alias and not a form of their real name, the others being Snake and Bayonetta.
*Chrom is one of two playable characters to appear in a Final Smash before becoming playable, with the other being Palutena. Unlike Palutena, however, Chrom still retains his Final Smash role in the game he is playable in.
**Joker is the only one of the three to not have an established canon name in his debut game, as he is named by the player in Persona 5, much like the protagonists from Persona 4 and Persona 3. Joker is known as Ren Amamiya in most of his other appearances in the Persona series, however, he is referred to as Akira Kurusu in the manga version of Persona 5.
**Chrom is also the first (and so far, only) Final Smash assisting character to also be playable in the same game.
**Joker is also the only character in Smash to have a customizable name in his game(s) of origin but to not have a generic name in Smash, as the villagers from Animal Crossing, Inklings from Splatoon, and Pokémon trainers from Pokémon are simply referred to as such.

*Joker's English voice actor is Xander Mobus, who also voices the announcer, Master Hand, and Crazy Hand in Super Smash Bros. 4 and Ultimate. This marks the first time that an English voice actor for any one of those characters voices a playable character.
**In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Chrom and Samus are the only playable characters to appear in another character's Final Smash; however, unlike with Chrom, Samus appears in the Final Smash used by her alter-ego, Zero Suit Samus, via temporary transformation.

*Joker is the third Sega-owned character to be playable in Smash, following Sonic the Hedgehog and Bayonetta, as Sega owns the Persona series' developer, Atlus.
*Chrom has the same voice actor as Yusuke Kitagawa in both Japanese and English, Tomokazu Sugita and Matthew Mercer respectively. Coincidentally, both also have blue hair. Likely as a result, Yusuke is represented by Chrom in the former's Spirit battle in Ultimate.
*Chrom is the only playable character whose Smash amiibo has not been revealed but has one released from another series.
*Joker is the first playable third-party character from a sub-series (as Persona deviates from the Megami Tensei franchise).
*Joker is the first playable third-party character in Smash whose game of origin was initially released on an eighth-generation platform, being the PlayStation 4.
*Joker is the most recently created third-party character in Smash, as Persona 5 was released in Japan on September 15, 2016.
**This also makes him the second third-party character to debut in the 21st century, alongside Bayonetta, and the first to debut in the 2010's.
*Joker and Cloud are the only characters who solely originate from a PlayStation console.
**Additionally, he and Cloud are the only third-party characters whose debut games were not released on a Nintendo console prior to their debut in Smash.
**Joker is also the only playable character to not have his game of origin be playable on a Nintendo console. <!--FFVII is available on Switch, Rondo of Blood was on the Wii's Virtual Console, the OG Street Fighter was on the 30th anniversary game (which released on Switch), as well as being released on Wii Virtual Console, and the MSX2 Metal Gear title was released on the NES.-->
*Joker's full debut on a Nintendo console is on the Nintendo 3DS with wikipedia, which features the main cast of Persona 3, 4, and 5; Joker's debut in general on a Nintendo console is the Switch version of wikipedia, as one of the DLC costumes for the customizable avatar is based on Joker.
*Although Joker is the first fighter to originate from the Megami Tensei mega-series, the Spirits Tsubasa Oribe and Tsubasa Oribe (Carnage form) come from Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE, a concept crossover between Shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem, which was developed by Atlus and published by Nintendo.
**However, Tsubasa's Spirits are classified under the Fire Emblem series, instead of "others".
*Joker is the fourth playable character to have a realistic gun on his person, after Captain Falcon, Snake, and Bayonetta. He is also the second to use it to attack, after Bayonetta. Like Bayonetta, Joker's gun is magically enhanced in the form of firing ammunition made by mental cognition, though Joker's gun is a model gun instead of a real one. That said, it is based on the Tokarev TT-33, a real-world firearm, making Joker the only character to use a firearm in battle based on a real gun.
*In the form of Joker's alternate costume, Joker is the fourth playable character to wear glasses, the first three being Iggy Koopa, Bayonetta, and one of Inkling's alternate costumes.
*Joker is the first and so far only character to have more than one victory theme in the same game.
*Strangely, Joker is the only character who does not have a character showcase video in the official website.
