This isn't from an official source - just my own thoughts: the 4 symbols on the PlayStation Controller can be used to represent the digits 1 to 4 according to how many lines they have: circle: 1, cross: 2, triangle: 3, square: 4. Then 5 could be a pentagon or pentagram (I prefer the pentagram). Then 0 would mean 0 lines - so a dot or an empty space. This is related to base 6 - [[Senary]] - which allows each hand to represent one digit (0 to 5) and pairs of digits can be represented with one character (0 to Z where Z is 35 [base 36]). I wonder if the 4 symbols were intentional because it seems like a big fluke for the digits 1 to 4 to be clearly represented on the controller. I found another person who thought this [https://www.gamespot.com/forums/playstation-nation-1000002/square-circle-triangle-and-x-26564773/ here]

Colors

It seems there were white, red, black and smoke gray/black transparent versions of the SCPH-1080 (not sure about the exact model number). consolevariations.com claims they were sold worldwide but I have not yet found evidence to that fact. Irrogalp (talk) 13:55, 19 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The Playstation controller and the symbols for the digits 1 to 5

think of it this way

O requires 1 line to make, 1 curvy line that is

X requires 2 lines to make

Triangle requires 3 lines to make

Square requires 4 lines to make.

This is how I always see it.
