Robert III de Sablé founded the Abby of Gaut outside of Bois-Renou [3] in 1189. He married Hersende with whom he had a daughter, Marguerite,[3] and a son, Robert IV de Sablé.[4]
His father was Lisiard, Lord of Sablé, and both fought against Geoffrey Plantagenet, Count of Anjou.[5] The battle lasted until 1146, when they signed a treaty.[5]
