Lalisa Manoban (Template:Lang-th; born March 27, 1997), better known by the mononym Lisa, is a Thai singer, rapper and dancer, known as the youngest member of the South Korean girl group Blackpink under YG Entertainment.[2]

Early life

Lisa was born as Pranpriya Manoban on March 27, 1997[3] in Buriram Province, Thailand.[4] She changed her given name to Lalisa, meaning "one who is praised", before shortening it to Lisa.[5]

She speaks several languages: Thai, Korean, Japanese, English, and basic Chinese.[6]

Career

2016–present: Blackpink

In August 2016, Lisa debuted as one of four members of the South Korean girl group Blackpink.[7][5] Blackpink topped Billboard World Digital Song chart with their single "Boombayah", which set the record as the most-viewed debut music video by a South Korean act on YouTube.[citation needed]

In April 2019 Blackpink became the first female K-pop group to peform at Coachella. Lisa will debut as a solo artist after member Rosé releases her solo.

Endorsements

In January 2019, Lisa became the muse of Celine, a French luxury brand.[8] In March 2019, Lisa signed her first solo endorsement deal when she became the new brand presenter for AIS Thailand.[9] In May 2019, Lisa was announced to be the presenter for Samsung S10 in Thailand.[10]

Impact and influence

In 2018, Lisa won The Standard "Person of the Year" award in Thailand.[11]

In April 2019, Lisa became the most followed K-pop artist and celebrity from Thailand and South Korea on Instagram with over 17 million followers.[12]
