Sources needed for Days of the Year pages
I see you recently accepted a pending change to May 4. I looked for a source for this date of birth in Andrew Denton that I could add to the DOY page and it was unsupported by any source there either.
You're probably not aware of this change, but Days of the Year pages are no longer exempt from WP:V and direct sources are required for additions. For details see the WikiProject Days of the Year style guide. I've gone ahead and un-accepted this edit and backed it out.
As a pending changes patroller, please do not accept additions to day of year pages where no direct source has been provided on that day of year page. The burden to provide sources for additions to these pages is on the editor who adds or restores material to these pages. They've had pending changes restrictions placed on them to prevent stuff like this getting in. Thank you. Toddst1 (talk) 02:39, 4 May 2019 (UTC)
- Ach! Thank you. My habit has been just to glance at the linked article to see if it says the same thing—I'll be more careful in the future. Eman235/talk 02:55, 4 May 2019 (UTC)
Pokemon gen 3
Eman235 When you reverted all that i wrote, you said it was poorly punctuated and it did not belong there. What do you mean by that? I am pretty skilled in Pokemon knowledge. Can you explain please? Porygon-Z 12:03, 9 May 2019 (UTC)
- Porygon-Z474, sorry for the somewhat brusque edit summary. By "poorly punctuated", I was referring to passages like "look at it's tail" (should be "its"), but that is not the main reason I reverted. As far as I can tell, that column is for items like "
The design of Whiscash was inspired by the mythological Namazu, a giant catfish said to cause earthquakes
", or "Various critics consider Luvdisc among the most "useless" and "lazily designed" Pokémon
"—not Pokédex-style blurbs. (I could be wrong about this, being generally unfamiliar with Wikipedia's articles on Pokémon, but it seems more encyclopedic to me.) - By the way, are you aware that a dedicated Pokémon wiki exists, at bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net? Eman235/talk 19:34, 9 May 2019 (UTC)
- I take the Pokedex info, reword it a bit (due to fear of copyright) and put it in Wikipedia. I get why you did that now, but what if Bulbapedia (which i do know of) isn't available. I'm sure someone wants to know a little bit about Pokemon and not just polls and origins. While that is good info, it looks bare. There are massive blanks that need to be filled in. Facts are needed, and if you look at other generations,I have also filled in spaces and people seem to accept it. Sure there might be mistakes but that's why I have the community to fix it. Porygon-Z 11:56, 10 May 2019 (UTC)
- Porygon-Z474: good question about schools blocking Bulbapedia. I'd hesitantly reply "that's not our problem"; Wikipedia and Bulbapedia both are meant to provide information within their scope, to anyone who can access it, and nothing more. The article has had the hatnote at the top that reads "
This article only covers the basics of Pokémon species. For detailed in-universe information, please refer to dedicated wikis on the subject.
" since it was created, which to me sounds like it discourages Pokédex-style descriptions. If you'd like to get a few other editor's opinions on this, you might start a request for comment at the WikiProject Pokémon talk page. - As for blank fields in the table, that's fairly common for "notes" columns (for example in Roald Dahl bibliography#Scripts). Some table entries may just not need notes.
- By the way, per this guideline, your signature should at least have a link to your talk page in it. Eman235/talk 20:01, 10 May 2019 (UTC)
- Well OK then but then what good is this if it doesnt have info on 3/4 of the pokemon. It should have something. And how do I make my talk page good let alone have a link to it? Is Bulbapedia owned by Wikipedia, too? Bulbapedia is filled with "unknown errors" when you wanna edit something. Porygon-Z 20:27, 10 May 2019 (UTC)
- WP:SIG should help. Basically, you just go to Special:Preferences, scroll down to the "Signature" section, check the "Treat the above as wiki markup" button, and enter something like
Porygon-Z (talk)
, which would look like Porygon-Z (talk). (Don't forget to hit "save".) - As for the list, it does have quite a bit of information: the Japanese name, Pokédex number, type, evolutions, and first game appearance. It occurs to me that better information to add to the notes column than Pokédex-style flavor text would be basic physical descriptions and the origin of its name, like
Charmander is a bipedal, salamander-like creature with a flame at the tip of its tail. Its English name is a portmanteau of "char" and "salamander"
(from List of generation I Pokémon). - Bulbapedia isn't owned be Wikipedia (or the Wikimedia Foundation, rather); the reason the software is so similar is because they both run MediaWiki, which was originally developed for Wikipedia, but has since become common on many unaffiliated wikis. I don't know anything about Bulbapedia errors; you might want to report that here. Eman235/talk 22:25, 10 May 2019 (UTC)
- I unchecked the box because it was already checked. As for pokemon, That's kinda what I do. I take Pokedex entries and merge then with Facts about their whereabouts and attributes. By the way have you ever taken a look at the notes of the list at the bottom? Porygon-Z (talk) 00:03, 11 May 2019 (UTC)
- Porygon-Z474, like these, or something else? (And what about them?) Eman235/talk 22:07, 12 May 2019 (UTC)
- Yes,some of them say like this tell you that they got the info on the Pokedex. So it is kinda based of of the Pokedex in a way. I guess they do allow Pokedex entries. Huh. Porygon-Z (talk) 01:29, 13 May 2019 (UTC)

Porygon-Z474, ah, I see. There is a difference, though, between "Pokémon names, National Pokédex numbers, types, and evolutions
" and the blurb / flavor text in the Pokédex entries. Eman235/talk 02:31, 13 May 2019 (UTC)
- Well, it's still from the Pokedex nonetheless. Even though it does need some flavor in the text. It needs life to this empty list. And why not give more info. Porygon-Z (talk) 11:54, 13 May 2019 (UTC)
- Well, I'm no arbiter—I think you or I should start a discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Pokémon (probably an RFC, since that page doesn't seem too active) about this. Eman235/talk 19:37, 13 May 2019 (UTC)
- I think I'd like that. Porygon-Z (talk) 11:55, 14 May 2019 (UTC)
- After reading the RfC page properly, I decided go for a third opinion, which should work fine. Eman235/talk 03:40, 15 May 2019 (UTC)
- Alright, although I don't know how to do one. So I don't exactly know how to do this...I think. Porygon-Z (talk) 13:36, 15 May 2019 (UTC)

Third Opinion comment
A Third Opinion has been requested. What is the question? Robert McClenon (talk) 03:55, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
- Robert McClenon: we (Porygon-Z474 and I) were discussing the scope of the "Notes" column in this table (and similar tables in other articles named "List of generation [something] Pokémon"). Basically: should flavor text-like entries be allowed (e.g.,
It is interested in everything
orJust put a potted flower outside and you'll see a Beautifly since its favorite food is nectar
), or should the column be restricted to commentary from critics (e.g.,Various critics consider Luvdisc among the most "useless" and "lazily designed" Pokémon
), design or name origins (e.g.,Design inspired by the Japanese mythological creature Tengu
), and physical descriptions (e.g., from this article:Charmander is a bipedal, salamander-like creature with a flame at the tip of its tail.
)? Eman235/talk 04:56, 16 May 2019 (UTC)- In my opinion, the key to what may be included in the Notes column is whether it has been reported by a reliable source, with "reliable" taking into account the trivial nature of the subject matter. If a commentator has said it, it can be included. Robert McClenon (talk) 21:56, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
- But isn't the pokedex kinda reliable? People wanna know more than polls and tolls, right? Porygon-Z (talk) 13:16, 17 May 2019 (UTC)

If not involved in other editing work, could you have a look at this article please?
Good morning.
We haven't talked for some time. My well wishes were always with you as I returned to our chat often.
How is your editing work progressing? Hope you are well and at peace.
Could you have a look at this draft:
User:Bkpsusmitaa/Violent_verses_of_the_Quran
?
If you are willing to check the article, I would submit it for review.
Bkpsusmitaa (talk) 03:54, 10 May 2019 (UTC)
- Hi, Bkpsusmitaa. I've been doing well, thank you.
- I read your draft, and it seems more like an essay than an encyclopedia article to me—see WP:NOTESSAY. (Have you considered getting a blog?)
- Also, the (apparently intentional?) sparse references would set it apart from just about every other Wikipedia article, which in general are referenced in accordance with Wikipedia:Verifiability.
- You could still submit it for review, of course, if you want a second opinion. Eman235/talk 23:48, 10 May 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for quickly replying to my query, Sir, Eman235! I won't presently be submitting the draft. Your opinion is fair enough for me.
- Thank you once again for your advice.
- (Postscript) What if I only have the selective verses listed? As primary evidence?
- Bkpsusmitaa (talk) 02:35, 11 May 2019 (UTC)
Thanks
Thanks for adding the OTRS mention [1]. I'm kicking myself for not having done so myself. Meters (talk) 18:38, 12 May 2019 (UTC)
- Anytime. Eman235/talk 19:53, 12 May 2019 (UTC)
hey thx for relpy
I see i cut and pasted the first part of the article on to Grammarly to spell check and then pasted it back on the page. so when i paste it back the references were deleted right. that the number right. ex Cosequin,[1] right? well thx for replying back and explanation it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Makeroftheuniverse (talk • contribs) 10:23, 18 May 2019 (UTC)
- Makeroftheuniverse: Indeed. Checking an article with Grammarly might be useful, but you should change the wording in the article manually, rather than copying it back in. Eman235/talk 11:25, 18 May 2019 (UTC)
To add information
Sir, I found an information missing in Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil's article. Here it goes, in the article an infobox is present. In that infobox there is a column called Occupation. In that column one thing is missing, that he is a "Philanthropist" also. Second thing is that the column is not arranged properly. It should be arranged like this:-
- Radiologist
- Chairman and managing director, VPS Healthcare group
- Philanthropist
Note: Sir, also provide the link of VPS Healthcare group in the column. Thanks. (223.230.152.136 (talk) 18:21, 20 June 2019 (UTC))
Thanks
Sir, You did a tremendous job by correcting Dr. Shamsheer article. Before you I had asked many editors to make the desire edit. But no one showed any interest, they use to ask me "Why you are interested in a particular article?" Sir, I want to ask you if I request to edit a particular article, am I doing a crime? I feel as discriminated. They (other editors) ask me to post request to improve other article. If I am not interested in Bill Gates or Jeff Bezos article then why should I post query related to their articles. I hope you understand what I am trying to say. Thanks once again! (223.230.152.136 (talk)) —Preceding undated comment added 03:10, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
- Well, generally one is encouraged to "be bold" and make desired changes to articles oneself; but I understand that editing infoboxes can be somewhat intimidating for new users, so as I had no objections to the change, I made it.
- It is considered a bit odd to ask a specific editor to make a change, rather than proposing it on the talk page of the article in question, but I don't know of any rule that specifically forbids it. Eman235/talk 05:14, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
- Sir, one last thing I would like to say that in the occupation column only dot(•) is missing before every occupation. Such as:-
•Radiologist ("•" should be indicated before Radiologist)
•Chairman and managing director, VPS Healthcare group (same) •Philanthropist (same)
Note: I saw this method of occupation description(dot(•) before every occupation)in Bill Gates article also. So, this should also be in Dr. Shamsheer's article. I hope you understand my request. After this change the article will be in great shape. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 223.230.152.136 (talk) 05:51, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
- Done, though this seems to be a matter of individual taste, rather than a rule. Eman235/talk 06:56, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
Thanks
Sir, many many thanks to you. I wish one day you also get awarded by "a very very very top grade service badge".Best 👍💯 of luck 🍀 for future. My good 👍😇 wishes for you.🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀(this" Green" 😇 luck for you). Thanks. (223.230.171.213 (talk) 07:32, 21 June 2019 (UTC))
Some of the links not working
Sir, in Dr. Shamsheer's article some of the references in the segment "Awards and Accolades" shows error. Generally those which have reference number [25] Thanks. (223.230.171.213 (talk) 11:16, 21 June 2019 (UTC))
- I've added a link to an archived version of that page. Eman235/talk 21:09, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
- Sir, the link of archived version is still showing some error, not displaying the information of the award correctly(Problem in reference number[25]). Hope you cross check it and if again the problem occurs then just remove those references.
- Thanks. (223.230.169.115 (talk) 04:13, 22 June 2019 (UTC))
- Just to make sure, you are talking about about this reference, right?
- "The International Indian: Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil". Archived from the original on 2018-10-05. Retrieved 2014-11-17.
- It's true that the link reading "the original" still links to an error page. But the primary link, reading "The International Indian: Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil", should link to a live website. Eman235/talk 04:27, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
- Sir, the awards given to Dr. Shamsheer in years 2009,2010,2011,2012 & 2014-2013 have that same reference " https://www.theinternationalindian.com [25]". How come this possible, sir? I think any editor(of course not you) has done this mischievous work of providing the same reference beside all these awards. I told you earlier that other editors are jealous of this successful man that's why they are destroying his article by giving fake references beside the award's name, so that people can't get to know about various achievements of this great man. Sir, I can trust only you. You will certainly make everything ok!
- Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 223.230.169.115 (talk) 06:10, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
- Reference #25 is used several times in the article, yes, using a common technique for citing sources more than once. I've updated the reference so that it primarily links to this page. Is this acceptable? Eman235/talk 07:30, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
- Sir, your updated reference is absolutely accurate. You did a tremendous job.The page which you updated with link is "page 21" also update "page 20" and "page 22" because 20 & 22 shows error. Then this will be fully acceptable.
- Thanks. (223.230.169.115 (talk)) —Preceding undated comment added 07:58, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
- I don't see where those are cited in the article. What is the number of the footnote they are referenced in? Eman235/talk 08:01, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
- Note: See what you wrote above. These are your kind words" I've updated the reference so that it primarily link to this page".The page here you are talking about is page no 21,this page is now updated by you;but page 20 and page 21 still shows error. I think I am good enough to bring this request in your knowledge. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 223.230.169.115 (talk) 08:16, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. The problem is that when you click on "page 20" or "page 22" on the archive of page 21, they take you to a page that reads "Hrm. The Wayback Machine has not archived that URL", right?
- I don't think there's anything I can do about that, unfortunately, unless www
.theinternationalindian .com comes back online. It's fortunate that someone had used the Wayback Machine to save page 21, which is the relevant page when talking about Shamsheer's accolades. Eman235/talk 21:33, 22 June 2019 (UTC)

- Sir, you mentioned above that you can't do anything unless www
.theinternationalindian .com comes back online. How will yo come to know that the website is working (online)? Do you think it will be online in future? - Dr.Shamsheer spouse name is missing in the infobox.
- About his children (number of children).
- Known: VPS Healthcare group. (Sir,provide VPS Healthcare group in form of link).
Note:All these informations are provided in other billionaire's(Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos,Mark Zuckerberg and many more)article infobox. But in Dr. Shamsheer case most of these things are missing.
Thanks.(223.230.165.97 (talk)) 21:07, 23 June 2019 (UTC)
- I'll know that www
.theinternationalindian .com is online when I visit it and there is no longer a 500 error. I don't know when or if that will happen, but I might check periodically. - I've added his spouse's name to the infobox.
- I don't see any mention of his children in the article. If you could provide a source for information about his children, I will gladly add that to the article.
known_for =
: I'm not sure exactly what to put there—"Chairman and managing director, VPS Healthcare Group"? That would be pretty redundant. Eman235/talk 01:47, 24 June 2019 (UTC)- Sir, The link about his children:- 2 (When you will click on this link his profile page(forbes) will appear then scroll down the page.)
- The link about known for:-
- Known for:- Founder of VPS Healthcare. (Put this only; because it is mentioned in his occupation column about his designation).
- Note:- Write founder of VPS Healthcare group(organisation name in the form of link). 3
- Thanks.(223.230.165.97 (talk) 04:11, 24 June 2019 (UTC))
- Thanks, I made the changes. (I chose not to link VPS Healthcare in the "known for" parameter, though, because it's already linked under "occupation". While we're making comparisons to the Bill Gates article, notice that while "Microsoft" is mentioned several times in that infobox, it is only linked once.) Eman235/talk 05:03, 24 June 2019 (UTC)
- Sir, two more important awards name to be added in Dr. Shamsheer's award and accolades paragraph. These are as follows:
1:) Healthcare CEO of The Year Award, 2019. Link:4
2:) ABLF Outstanding Business Citizen Award;October 6,2018. Link: 5 3:) His parents name is also missing in the infobox. (You can see about his parents on his Google profile page) 4:) Sir, one last thing the reference no [25] which you updated works sometimes and sometimes shows error. So, I think that reference should be constructed and maintained properly. Hope, you will add these informations & reupdate the reference. Thanks. (223.230.165.97 (talk) 15:03, 24 June 2019 (UTC))
