El Hamma du Jérid is a town and commune in the Tozeur Governorate, Tunisia. As of 2004 it had a population of 6,259.[2]

Geography

El Hamma of Jerid or El Hamma of Djerid (Arabic: حامة الجريد) is a town located nine kilometers north of Tozeur in the Jerid region at 34 ° 00 'North, 8 ° 09' East.

El Hamma is an oasis whose palm grove is exploited since Roman times as evidenced by the ruins located at a place called Guebbech (ڤباش). It was fed by twenty sources including six hot springs; the water is chlorinated, sodium and sulphurous for some of them (37-40 ° C). Not long ago, people came again to take baths. Economics
