In a long ago job I worked at a state hospital ward that had old men who caught syphilis long before penicillin was discovered. The showed the signs od Alzheimers long before Alzheimers was heard of. It was just called syphilitic dementia. Herpes is now suspected but I suppose any infection or untreated VD will eventually be implicated. Ovarian cancer, , prostate cancer, cervical ........
