Josh Blackie is the current Captain of the Otago Air New Zealand cup team, after a shoulder injury forced Craig Newby out of the competition. Josh Blackie plays open-side flanker for Otago in the Air New Zealand Cup and the Highlanders in the Super 14. He debuted for Otago in 1999 and the Highlanders in 2001 and is a prolific try scorer, scoring 5 tries in this years Air New Zealand Cup. He was the equal leading try scorer for the Highlanders in 2003. He was selected for the Junior All Blacks for the IRB Pacific 5 Nations tournament in 2006 which the team successfully won. He was also part of the victorious New Zealand Commonwealth Games sevens team in Melbourne, scoring several times throughout the competiton.
