Hi! Can you review my article and move it to the mainspace? «This page contains a translation of ru:Елисеев, Виктор Васильевич from ru.wikipedia.» Thanks! Manager1kz (talk) 14:45, 23 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Manager1kz: Unfortunately I'm not confident enough with Russian to make a definitive answer on whether the article passes WP:GNG, and I'm concerned the article is written promotionally instead of encyclopaedically. Someone at AfC will get around to it soon! SportingFlyer T·C 05:47, 26 April 2019 (UTC)
Hi. While doing NPP, I noticed that you accepted 2019 Sun Belt Conference football season from AfC. I see no indication that this season meets WP:NSEASON as it seems to lack any well sourced prose. Would you object to my moving it back to draftspace? Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 18:24, 25 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Barkeep49: I almost rejected it on WP:CRYSTAL grounds, but I checked to see when the 2018 season article was created, and that happened in February 2018. I think we're far too lenient on WP:SEASON articles as they stand as far too many of them fail WP:NOTSTATS, but the 2019 schedule is out and the American football wiki's broadly inclusionist, so I figured it would survive an AfD. Feel free to take any action you see fit! SportingFlyer T·C 18:28, 25 April 2019 (UTC)
- SportingFlyer I know I've been lenient myself on SEASON articles at times but after running into an editor who wouldn't stop creating bad ones I've decided to apply the "letter of the law." Will be moving this back to draft, thanks. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 18:30, 25 April 2019 (UTC)

Zanhe (talk) 22:45, 27 April 2019 (UTC)Copyvio
To be honest, I'm actually not all that active a participant at the copyvio noticeboard — I pop in sometimes when a request that's already there pertains to an article I've already been involved with for crossover reasons, but I'm not a regular visitor or an active copyvio-wiper. So about all I can suggest is to be sure you know what kinds of processes people tend to follow in dealing with a copyvio request, and jump in to help if and when something sparks your fancy as an issue you want to look into. A lot of the time the most appropriate way to deal with a copyvio comes down to personal judgement calls, to be honest: sometimes it's so grievous as to require total speedy deletion, and other times it's fixable with a simple rewrite followed by revision deletion of the offending edits. Wikipedia Library
You mentioned on my talk page that you were unable to review some articles in The Boston Globe. Are you aware of WP:LIBRARY? The Globe articles are on-line, via newspapers.com. There's a subscription required, but as a wikipedia editor, you can get a guest subscription which gives you access for free. It's a wonderful tool for checking references. Apply at https://wikipedialibrary.wmflabs.org/ -- RoySmith (talk) 22:37, 30 April 2019 (UTC)
- @RoySmith: I honestly did not know that. This is fantastic, thanks for the heads up. I frequently use newspapers.com without a subscription (OCR text search.) SportingFlyer T·C 01:46, 2 May 2019 (UTC)
Alaska Airlines destinations follow up
Looks like that's correct: [1] However no one knows it's Horizon as Horizon planes are branded Alaska. What's the rule on this? SportingFlyer T·C 07:05, 30 April 2019 (UTC)
Your citation is incorrect and outdated. Alaska was thinking in 2018 of starting service but never did. Horizon Air did when the airport opened for airline traffic in early March. See [2] following Alaska Airlines decision to push back the start of Horizon Airlines flights from February 11th to early March. [3] “We’ve had our setbacks, we’ve had our delays, but today is the day,” said Gary Beck, CEO and president of Alaska Air’s Horizon Air subsidiary, which will be handling operations in Everett. [4] Horizon Air is providing the all-jet service on the Embraer 175 aircraft, which features first class and premium class seating. Aerostar3 (talk) 03:48, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
What's the rule on this? See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Airports/Archive_17#Potential_Major_Change_to_WP:Airports:_Removing_Regional_Carrier_Listings_from_Airport_Articles
I'm following the text of the article, that it is only Alaska Airlines destinations. If Wikipedia wants to change it to List of Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air destinations, this is also a possibility. Aerostar3 (talk) 03:51, 1 May 2019 (UTC)

- @Sudhakar naidu 118: Please read WP:CANVASS, you posted on the talk pages of several random users, and while you did not ask me specifically to help save the article, you did ask others. This is inappropriate and if you continue could easily get you a block from editing the site. 2018-19 Veria F.C. season
Dear SportingFlyer,
I would be more than glad to ask you to have a look over the expansion I did to the draft of Veria F.C. season 2018-19 article. I’ve already submitted for review but none had a look yet at it.
If more is needed to make it eligible for acceptance please let me know as I’m trying my best and I’m working on very limited sources to expanded it on my own and working very hard on it as Veria is my hometown’s team and my favorite one and I’m trying to keep a complete high profile page for the team!
Kind regards, PanosBonJovi (talk) 17:03, 7 May 2019 (UTC)
- @PanosBonJovi: Could you please provide the link to the draft? I'm still not sure it will pass our WP:NSEASONS guideline, but I will have a look. SportingFlyer T·C 22:19, 7 May 2019 (UTC)
- @SportingFlyer: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:2018%E2%80%9319_Veria_F.C._season here's the link!
Thanks in advance! PanosBonJovi (talk) 22:27, 7 May 2019 (UTC)
- I won't accept the article at this time - it's borderline, the sources are in Greek, and I don't have time at the moment to translate them all and see if they're reliable. However, amateur seasons don't typically get kept, but I think you may be close to passing WP:GNG. Your best bet for improvement will be to reference the opening part of the article - you can reuse references from below, but if you can show beyond a doubt Greek media covered the Veria season in spite of their amateur league status, you may have a shot at keeping the article at AfD. SportingFlyer T·C 22:34, 7 May 2019 (UTC)
- @SportingFlyer: Isn't the links used for match reports a strong indicator that media did cover the season? I added more sources from various Greek media websites on the opening paragraph as you suggested as well! KerkidaSport.gr is the main website that covers Veria's news each year for many years now as well, if that also counts and also every major site. Gamma Ethniki used to be a professional league but in recent years they made it the top tier of amateur divisions. After that, there are the local divisions. Just a question, why was the 2013–14 AEK Athens F.C. season accepted then?
Thanks for the help and your time!
Kind regards, PanosBonJovi (talk) 23:03, 7 May 2019 (UTC)
- @PanosBonJovi: I agree with you, I'm just letting you know I have to review whether the draft will be deleted, and regardless of the sourcing, amateur teams tend to get deleted, so your best bet is making sure the sourcing is great and clearly shows the article passes the WP:GNG guideline. See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2017–18 Leyton Orient F.C. season. It doesn't look like the AEK Athens season was made in draft space from what I can tell. SportingFlyer T·C 23:16, 7 May 2019 (UTC)
- @SportingFlyer: Well, my article was moved to drafts cause it lacked of sources but the AEK Athens article I mentioned above seems that it also lacks of sources, unless i'm mistaken, and it's also written for an amateur division (the same amateur division which Veria played to this year)! Anyway thanks for helping me over this one, hopefully my latest sources and updates are enough to keep the article alive as I spend a lot of time and effort to keep every Veria themed article up to date and I worked on this specific article as well! If more is needed, i'd be glad to try and add them!
- @PanosBonJovi: Good luck! SportingFlyer T·C 23:50, 8 May 2019 (UTC)

- @SportingFlyer: Any update on my draft? Still no news and review is pending .

Thanks and a question
Thanks for reviewing the article on the IGL Recording Co. I have a question for you though. I get why the book on the studio is not acceptable due to it being tied somewhat closely to the principals of the studio itself - especially after revisiting the guideline cited.
Why is the article from Arf! Arf! Records, authored by Tom Tourville, not acceptable? The site the article is a part of is focused on the reunion for the IGL region and not the studio specifically. It is maintained by a 3rd party not connected to the studio. The studio is a part of the regions history and is included in the site for that reason. Tourville's article provides 3rd party corroboration of much of the information contained in the book. Tourville himself is not connected to the studio in any way. He writes on the music history in the northern part of the state as that's where he grew up. I would contend that it is in the same league as the Explore Okoboji article. If I am remembering correctly there is a audio interview with John Senn included on the EO site which also corroborates much of the books information.
I thank you again for your review and look forward to your response.THX1136 (talk) 00:06, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
- @THX1136: Could you please link me to the article again? I'll take another look. SportingFlyer T·C 00:32, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
- http://www.arfarfrecords.com/arfarf/igl/iglrec.html The site has 3 pages - the open, Roof Garden and a page on the studio. It is maintained by Aram Heller.
- Thanks for taking a second look. This question also occurred: If I strip out the specifics that are only verified in the book, would that take care of the the issue? I think I can retain much of the info with the other two resources, along with the interview info.
- @THX1136: Sorry, I meant the draft article. I was able to search through my contributions and find it. The trouble I have with the Arf! Arf! records is that it strongly appears self-published. While self-published sources can be okay, I am not convinced this is a reliable source, and it may be self-serving. Furthermore, what's important here is demonstrating notability in the project's eyes and self-published sources cannot be used to demonstrate notability. The Explore Okoboji article at least appeared to be from mainstream media sources, and I gave it the benefit of the doubt. My advice to you would be to seek out other reliable secondary sources which significantly cover the topic in order to prove the studio's notability beyond a doubt, and good luck! SportingFlyer T·C 13:05, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks for your input. I got in touch with Tom Tourville who wrote the article that Heller included at the Arf! Arf! site. Tourville has written several books that deal with the IA/MN music scene from the 60s and beyond. I'm hoping that one of his books was the source for the article quoted by Heller at Arf!Arf! I appreciate the time you've taken on this. THX1136 (talk) 18:32, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
NPR Newsletter No.18
Hello SportingFlyer,
- WMF at work on NPP Improvements
Niharika Kohli, a product manager for the growth team, announced that work is underway in implementing improvements to New Page Patrol as part of the 2019 Community Wishlist and suggests all who are interested watch the project page on meta. Two requested improvements have already been completed. These are:
- Allow filtering by no citations in page curation
- Not having CSD and PRODs automatically marked as reviewed, reflecting current consensus among reviewers and current Twinkle functionality.
- Reliable Sources for NPP
Rosguill has been compiling a list of reliable sources across countries and industries that can be used by new page patrollers to help judge whether an article topic is notable or not. At this point further discussion is needed about if and how this list should be used. Please consider joining the discussion about how this potentially valuable resource should be developed and used.
- Backlog drive coming soon
Look for information on the an upcoming backlog drive in our next newsletter. If you'd like to help plan this drive, join in the discussion on the New Page Patrol talk page.
- News
- Following a request for comment, the subject-specific notability guideline for pornographic actors and models (WP:PORNBIO) was removed; in its place, editors should consult WP:ENT and WP:GNG.
- Discussions of interest
- A request for bot approval for a bot to patrol two kinds of redirects
- There has been a lot discussion about Notability of Academics
- What, if anything, would a SNG for Softball look like

Articles for deletion/2004 Vaughan Shooters season
Hi SportingFlyer, I'm just responding to the question you asked in the Articles for deletion/2004 Vaughan Shooters season discussion. I found reliable independent secondary sources for the 2007-2009 seasons. From that period the club was covered regularly through the various Metroland Media Group newspapers. I think that assists in making them notable. The articles could be found at their website here are some of the links.[1] [2]

Legally defined?
At Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/West Hudson, New Jersey and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/North Hudson, New Jersey you have mentioned the concept of 'legally defined', but have not clarified what you mean and how that relates to the discussion or what policy you are basing your claim on. You have added cited Wikipedia:WikiProject Geographical coordinates but been unclear as what you are referring to. Can you please explain? Thanks Djflem (talk) 07:58, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
Also, please, as offered, review the sources cited at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/North Hudson, New Jersey, which clearly establish the use of the term and it's definition.Djflem (talk) 09:47, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
- @Djflem: Sorry, it was late and I thought WP:GEO linked to WP:GEOLAND, which discusses legally defined human geographies (states, counties, municipal councils) as opposed to "informal" geographies (such as North Hudson, which have to pass WP:GNG). As I've said, I've looked through the sources and I don't see anything which actually defines it as a place, informal or not - it's just WP:SYNTH. SportingFlyer T·C 18:07, 21 June 2019 (UTC)

Rollback granted
Hi SportingFlyer. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! TonyBallioni (talk) 04:08, 24 June 2019 (UTC)
A properly attributed block-quote is not a copyright violation. I am going to undo your edit and hope that you do not undo a properly referenced quote. Please focus elsewhere. User:Lightburst 04:14, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
- @Lightburst: No, it can still be a copyright violation, especially since the copy and pasted text is from a copyrighted website. It's also bad form. What it's not is plagiarised, since it's properly attributed. I've left a note on the copyvio page for someone to take a look. SportingFlyer T·C 07:07, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
- You have a misunderstanding of what constitutes a copyright violation. I would appreciate you not editing articles that I have started to remove properly referenced material without getting consensus. This is a big encyclopedia and there is much to do without squabbling with editors and living in contentious areas of WP. I have some articles to write. All my best to you. User:Lightburst 13:15, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
- One again I am encouraging you to focus your attention elsewhere. I have enough to deal with on WP without having another editor engage in WP:HOUNDING. Someone else reverted your reversion on the Kaelin article I started ...thankfully. I do not wish to be in a content edit war with you. Please stop this bothersome activity. I also would like to ask you to take articles I started off of your watch list. My best to you. User:Lightburst 12:44, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
- @Lightburst: I'm not WP:HOUNDING you. I did not look at the article since my last post here. The article is on my watchlist, and I saw you restored content which goes against WP:NPOV (by allowing the person to talk about themselves) in addition to being a potential copyright violation (it's non-free text.) I'm going to remove it again, and start a discussion on the talkpage. It has absolutely nothing to do with you. SportingFlyer T·C 19:14, 26 June 2019 (UTC)

New Page Review newsletter July-August 2019
Hello SportingFlyer,
- WMF at work on NPP Improvements
More new features are being added to the feed, including the important red alert for previously deleted pages. This will only work if it is selected in your filters. Best is to 'select all'. Do take a moment to check out all the new features if you have not already done so. If anything is not working as it should, please let us know at NPR. There is now also a live queue of AfC submissions in the New Pages Feed. Feel free to review AfCs, but bear in mind that NPP is an official process and policy and is more important.
- QUALITY of REVIEWING
Articles are still not always being checked thoroughly enough. If you are not sure what to do, leave the article for a more experienced reviewer. Please be on the alert for any incongruities in patrolling and help your colleagues where possible; report patrollers and autopatrolled article creators who are ostensibly undeclared paid editors. The displayed ORES alerts offer a greater 'at-a-glance' overview, but the new challenges in detecting unwanted new content and sub-standard reviewing do not necessarily make patrolling any easier, nevertheless the work may have a renewed interest factor of a different kind. A vibrant community of reviewers is always ready to help at NPR.
- Backlog
The backlog is still far too high at between 7,000 and 8,000. Of around 700 user rights holders, 80% of the reviewing is being done by just TWO users. In the light of more and more subtle advertising and undeclared paid editing, New Page Reviewing is becoming more critical than ever.
- Move to draft
NPR is triage, it is not a clean up clinic. This move feature is not limited to bios so you may have to slightly re-edit the text in the template before you save the move. Anything that is not fit for mainspace but which might have some promise can be draftified - particularly very poor English and machine and other low quality translations.
- Notifying users
Remember to use the message feature if you are just tagging an article for maintenance rather than deletion. Otherwise articles are likely to remain perma-tagged. Many creators are SPA and have no intention of returning to Wikipedia. Use the feature too for leaving a friendly note note for the author of a first article you found well made or interesting. Many have told us they find such comments particularly welcoming and encouraging.
- PERM
Admins are now taking advantage of the new time-limited user rights feature. If you have recently been accorded NPR, do check your user rights to see if this affects you. Depending on your user account preferences, you may receive automated notifications of your rights changes. Requests for permissions are not mini-RfAs. Helpful comments are welcome if absolutely necessary, but the bot does a lot of the work and the final decision is reserved for admins who do thorough research anyway.
- Other news
School and academic holidays will begin soon in various places around the Western world. Be on the lookout for the usual increase in hoax, attack, and other junk pages.
Our next newsletter might be announcing details of a possible election for co-ordinators of NPR. If you think you have what it takes to micro manage NPR, take a look at New Page Review Coordinators - it's a job that requires a lot of time and dedication.

Western Sydney Wanderers FC NPL
Hello, SportingFlyer. The deletion of the Western Sydney Wanderers FC NPL article is fine with me. I'm happy to have the other A-League team NPL pages to be removed as soon as possible. I had discussions with Eccy89, and mentioned that I'm just taking well resourced information into one page to a new page.
Plus, the "Reserves" articles and Central Coast Mariners FC Under-25s and Academy page are already looking fantastic. I'm happy for the Reserves pages to stay, and the NPL ones to go. These NPL ones are just pointless.

SportingFlyer You can email me if you have questions regarding the revdel. Cannot be published. Also not much more I can do regarding Kaelin, properly referenced does not matter. The edits you made remove the scientific explanations which cannot be reworded. So I will stop editing the article and leave it to the community. Happy fourth to you! ORCP
Hey there. I just wanted to note that I think it's too bad your ORCP has gotten no response. I don't know all the ins and outs of your editing record and am not really the sort that should be weighing in at ORCP but the idea of you going to RfA is reasonable. You are definitely a legitimate candidate - which is of course different from saying you'd pass - and I'm sorry no one has given you any feedback. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 23:44, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Barkeep49: Thank you very much. I was wondering if the silence was due to some sort of character flaw or if it was because the climate's just a bit odd right now, but I really appreciate your post. SportingFlyer T·C 23:58, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
Draft:Europe_Elects
Hi, I added another source to the article Draft:Europe_Elects. I think, it is okay by now. Further sources are shown at the talk of the article. Could you please recheck and publish the article? Thank you for your efforts.Stubenviech (talk) 14:20, 8 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Stubenviech: Hi mate, there are still not enough reliable sources in the article for it to be accepted. SportingFlyer T·C 01:16, 9 July 2019 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for coming back. Could you please have a look at the Talk of Europe Elects? I posted a link there, that shows many citations of Europe Elects. Which one should I choose? Thank you for your efforts. Stubenviech (talk) 11:55, 10 July 2019 (UTC)

Hello. Please confirm why you have marked this article for deletion. Thank you. Jembola (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 06:24, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
- I've moved this to the bottom of the page, incorrectly posted at top by Jembola. I've posted guidance on their talk page, deleted a further copyright violation and asked for a COI clarification, so you don't need to reply further unless you wish to, cheer Jimfbleak - talk to me? 10:53, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
