Choral rendition

The State Anthem of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Template:Lang-uz) came into being when Uzbekistan was a republic of the Soviet Union. Upon independence in 1991, lacking any other suitable candidate, the tune of the old Uzbek SSR anthem, composed by Mutal Burhonov, was retained with new lyrics written by Abdulla Oripov.

This anthem is broadcast when Uzbek radio and television stations sign on at 5:55 a.m.[2][better source needed]

Lyrics

Uzbek original

The modern anthem only has two verses and two choruses, while the Uzbek SSR Anthem had three of each, arranged in a similar structure.

I
My sunny free land, happiness and salvation to your people,
You are a warmhearted companion to your friends, to your friends!
Flourish forever with learning and creativity,
May your glory shine as long as the world exists!

Chorus:
These golden valleys – dear Uzbekistan,
The courageous spirit of your ancestors is with you!
When the great power of the people raged,
(You did) have charmed the world!

II
The faith of an open-hearted Uzbek does not die out,
The young free generation is a strong wing for you, strong wing for you!
Beacon of independence, the guardian of peace,
Lover of truth, Oh motherland, flourish forever!

Chorus

I
Stand tall, my free country, good fortune and salvation to you,
You yourself a companion to friends, to friends!
Creator of eternal knowledge and science,
May your fame for ever shine bright!

Chorus:
These valleys are golden – my dear Uzbekistan,
Our ancestors' spirits your companion!
Strength of great people in turbulent times
Made this land the world's joy!
