Bandar Baru Bangi (literally translated from Malay to English as Bangi Newtown) is a township situated in Hulu Langat region, in southeastern Selangor, Malaysia.
It is named after the small town of Bangi situated further south. It is located between Kajang and Putrajaya (formerly Prang Besar) and is about 25 km away from the capital city, Kuala Lumpur.
The name of the town usually is abbreviated as "BBB". As of 2016, there are 16 town sections in BBB.
Features
Bangi Newtown is also known as a "Knowledge City" as it is home to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (National University of Malaysia). Other public universities including Universiti Tenaga Nasional and Universiti Putra Malaysia are also nearby.
Bangi Newtown is also famous for its eateries. There are mamak stalls, sea food, Malaysian, Thai, Arabic as well as Japanese restaurants. There are several night markets, supermarkets, malls, and hotels in BBB. Bangi Golf resort situated near section 6 is one of the largest golf resorts in Selangor state. Bangi Central is the most popular place in this town because there are a lot of shopping arcades and food stalls.
