Sukanya (born 9 July 1969) is a South Indian actress, singer, music composer, Bharatanatyam danseuse and voice actor. She has predominantly acted in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Telugu films. She was the leading actress from 1991 to 1997. She has also composed two Vaishnava devotional albums namely Azhagu and Thirupathi Thirukudai Thiruvizha.

Personal life

Sukanya was named Sukanyarani at birth and she hails from Chennai. Her father Ramesh is a Businessman and her mother Bharathi is a homemaker. Having strong support from her mother, Sukanya was trained in Bharathanattiyam. She was first associated with media programs and from there she established herself as an actor in films.She was the leading actress from 1991 to 2001. Sukanya married Sridharan Rajagopalan in 2002 at the United States. Later she got divorced in 2003 and came back to Chennai to resume her acting career from 2003.She was one of the leading actress in '90s.^[1]
