Nadia Ross is a Canadian theatre director and creator. Since 1992, she is the founder and Artistic Director of STO Union, a multi-arts performance company based in Farrellton, Québec. In 2016, Ross was awarded the Siminovich prize for Directing. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/arts/theatre-and-performance/indie-theatre-company-director-nadia-ross-wins-siminovitchprize/article32567695/ In its award statement, the Siminovich jury noted of Ross' oeuvre: "Her work is characterized by an immediacy, an intimacy that is tangible to the viewer. Her approach is un-spectacular: she focuses on the fragility of human interactions and their complexity. The beauty in humans is held in steep contradiction with our collective ignorance." https://siminovitchprize.com/laureates/nadia-ross/
Ross grew up in the Outaouais in Western Québec and studied at the University of Toronto. After her studies, she was advised by a Drama Professor to go went to East Berlin to apprentice with the Berlin Ensemble http://www.laforesta.co/nadia-ross. Upon her return to Toronto, she collaborated with Daniel MacIvor and Daniel Brooks before setting up STO Union. The company relocated from Toronto in 2005 to ?, Quebec. Working in a smaller community has allowed Ross to integrate the community's point of view in her work in a collaborate process, in particular with works such as ????
Her works have toured across Canada and the world including Germany, Austria, the United States, the Netherlands, Ireland, Hong Kong, Australia, Belgium, Norway, and Russia.

[edit]A self-declared outsider artists, Ross' work has its basis in theatre but seeks expand the form into performances that is intimate and focusses on human interactions. The work is characterized by a lengthy research and dramaturgy process, “I’m a small, independent company artist, and I always will be. I’ll always be working the threadbare way. I live out in the world for a reason. I work with found material for a reason. That’s become my style, and I’m not going to change that. That’s just who I am.” https://stratfordfestivalreviews.com/blog/2017/11/01/a-look-back-with-siminovitch-prize-winner-nadia-ross/
