In 2011, Renata Ford's mother called police alleging that Rob Ford took their children to Florida, against the wishes of Renata Ford.[4] In 2018, she filed a $16M lawsuit against Doug Ford alleging financial impropriety in the handling of Rob Ford's estate, alleging that Doug Ford and his brother Randy Ford improperly withheld a $220k life insurance policy, and charged unreasonable expenses against Rob Ford's estate.[5][6]

Ford pleaded guilty to a charge of impaired driving in June 2018 related to a 2016 incident and was sentenced to 3 years probation and 100 hours of community service.[7]
