The historical "American System" should figure larger than paeans to yuppie capitalism in an article called "American way." What I'm seeing here isn't something Superman would fight a never-ending battle for. [[User:Ventifax|Ventifax]] ([[User talk:Ventifax|talk]]) 00:14, 6 October 2019 (UTC)

Someone who knows more about culture and literature than I do should look at the culture section, especially on writers. I don't think Eliot's work in general has much to say about the American way of life--I think it was written in the UK, much of it informed by experiences he had there? Eugene O'Neill's work seems to be largely about living with the shadow of substance abuse, which is certainly part of the American way of life, but a small part. These examples cast the relevance of the section into question. Each one of those writers mentioned should be looked at more closely. It's as if it were just a list of famous writers considered American. I haven't seen any of the films, but I have my doubts about those, too. "The Simpsons" seem to me definitely to belong here, and it would be nice to see the rest of the cultural examples come up to that standard. TECannon 16:55, 19 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Does it make any sense for William Burroughs, who died in 1947, to be included in the 1950-present category of writers? - Im.a.lumberjack 17:24, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Spirit of an encyclopedia is to add, not to remove news

American way written here, is for an historical period, that goes from the discovery of the America. But American way of life reference to an historical period beginning from when these words was used from the time of the council of the Constitution Act of the United States, Civil War and so on. American way of life was used subsequently on treaty of 1868 with the Indians, to indicate the differences between the life style of the citizens Americans immigrates from Europe and the Americas Native. American way of life has become fashionable during the Cold War, but before years 1950, tens of writers have written about it. To insert Burroughs is simply to cite the historical evolution of the term, like it has used he and before he, all the writers Americans who have been. And inasmuch as it is spoken instead about American Way that of American Way of Life, to rigor the article would have to cite the authors who have spoken about American Way at the beginning, from 12 October 1492, mostly Spanish authors and English exploratories.---- Roger tellme 05:42, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The gross words do not make culture. It is unacceptable that on an encyclopedia to write trivial words. Anonymous writer 17:24, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
