Christina "Tina" Neal is a volcanologist and an honoree for the Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medals.[1] Neal is the Scientist in Charge at the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory, succeeding Jim Kauahikaua in 2015. Prior to this, she worked as a geologist with the Alaska Volcano Observatory and was the first USGS geoscience advisor to the Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance with the United States Agency of International Development.[2] She holds a bachelor's degree in geological sciences from Brown University and a master's degree in geology from Arizona State University.[3]
