Hans Braun (14 May 1917 – 2 Mai 1992) was an Austrian operatic baritone.

Life

Born in Vienna, Braun was a member of the Peterlini-Sängerknaben. He studied with Hermann Gallos and Hans Duhan at the Wiener Musikakademie. He had his debut in 1938. From 1943 to 1945 he had an engagement at the Stadttheater of Königsberg (today's Kaliningrad) and afterwards he became a member of the Vienna State Opera to which he belonged until 1979.

Braun made guest appearances at many European opera houses such as London, Milan, Naples, Florence, Berlin, Munich and Hamburg, and also appeared at the Salzburg and the Bayreuth Festivals.

Braun entered into a short-term marriage with his professional colleague Dagmar Hermann.

Braun died in Vienna at age 74. He was buried at the Vienna Central Cemetery (31A-2-34).
