Pramod Bhanuka Bandara Rajapaksa, popularly as Bhanuka Rajapaksa(born 24 October 1991), is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer, who plays Twenty20 Internationals for Sri Lanka. He is a left-handed batsman who bowls right-arm medium-fast. He was born in Colombo. He had to wait for 10 years in domestic cricket, until he was called for the Pakistan series in 2019.

Early career

As a student of Royal College Colombo, Bhanuka started his cricket career after giving up swimming. He was specially recognized for his skills with the bat. Been recognized as a contemporary school level batsmen, he has been a key player in the Royal College team as a batsman as well as a dependable medium pace bowler.

Domestic career

In domestic cricket, Rajapaksa represents the Sinhalese Sports Club in Sri Lankan domestic cricket and has also played for Barisal Blazers in Bangladesh's NCL T20 Bangladesh.[5]

In April 2018, he was named in Galle's squad for the 2018 Super Provincial One Day Tournament.[6] In August 2018, he was named in Kandy's squad the 2018 SLC T20 League.[7] In March 2019, he was named in Dambulla's squad for the 2019 Super Provincial One Day Tournament.[8]

International career

In September 2019, he was named in Sri Lanka's Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for the series against Pakistan in Pakistan.[9] He made his T20I debut for Sri Lanka, against Pakistan, on 5 October 2019.[10] In the match, he scored useful 32 runs and helped to post 165 runs. Pakistan scored 101 runs and finally Sri Lanka won the match by 64 runs.[11] In the second match, Rajapaksa scored 77 runs off 48 balls and Sri Lanka posted 182 runs on the board. In the chase, Pakistan only scored 147 runs and Sri Lanka won the match by 35 runs. He won man of the match award for his match winning batting performance.[12]
