Not to be confused with ....
I have discovered that there is a porn actress who uses the stage name Darryl Hanah (2 Rs, one N), who vaguely resembles the star of Splash, and whose stage name is often misspelled to be identical to (and confused with) the Splash star. Sussmanbern (talk) 22:47, 6 March 2015 (UTC)

Asperger's diagnosis
An IP editor removed Category:People with Asperger syndrome, but I have reverted it. I'm not convinced that she has actually been diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome, but this article from Boston.com specifically states that Asperger's has caused her to be blacklisted from Hollywood. Is there any proof that she has been officially diagnosed? If not, maybe we should remove the category. I'm not quite sure. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 01:11, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
The main argument against Daryl Hannah having Asperger Syndrome would be that she was diagnosed as a child and Asperger Syndrome was not recognized by the DSM until 1994, at which point she was an adult. According to a Forbes article "Hannah could not, as a child, have received a diagnosis of Asperger Syndrome, as that diagnostic category didn’t exist then." Also, I've only heard her refer to herself as being diagnosed with autism and I don't think that Hannah herself has ever stated that she was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:304:78E4:9989:1949:35B0:7932:55F3 (talk) 20:44, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
- She could have been diagnosed with autism in the 1960s, then rediagnosed with Asperger Syndrome later in her life. That's what the Boston.com article above insinuates. It says that she was diagnosed with AS early in her career, not as a child. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 04:31, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
- "Early in her career" would have been the 1970s or early 1980s. And Hannah has clearly stated that she was diagnosed with autism as a child, not early in her career. The article's author could been mistaken.2602:304:78E4:9989:D1A3:4198:F989:A2B1 (talk) 07:45, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah, I guess you're right. I'd keep her in the autism spectrum category, though. That one seems pretty reliably sourced. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 08:23, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
- Agreed. I'll delete the Asperger category, but leave the autism one.2602:304:78E4:9989:9028:59DF:F135:6839 (talk) 00:12, 13 August 2014 (UTC)
- Aspberger is and only name falling within the Authism spectrum diagnosis. Today it is the same thing. Longhairadmirer (talk) 17:32, 14 August 2014 (UTC)

Has (or had) she a pervasive developmental disorder or autistic spectrum disorder or not???
Would she receive the diagnosis of any autism spectrum disorder or pervasive developmental disorder according to ICD-10 or DSM-IV? Would she receive the diagnosis of ASD according to DSM-V criteria (especially based on behaviors in childhood)? She (probably?) was diagnosed with borderline autism, I do not know if it is any PDD or ASD, if it is not PDD or ASD, she can not be named as "autistic", at least for me! Maybe she will receive at least level 1 of ASD according to DSM-V due to symptoms in childhood? Aucorigic III (talk) 15:33, 20 September 2014 (UTC)
Forbes magazine reference about autism
Forbes magazine stated online that "Daryl Hannah has made headlines for opening up publicly about being autistic, a diagnosis she received as a child. Hannah is 52 and a woman, which makes her what some people consider to be a rare entity in the autistic population: female and middle-aged. Hannah could not, as a child, have received a diagnosis of Asperger Syndrome, as that diagnostic category didn’t exist then -- and is about to cease existence again...." This simple statement seems to clear up the myriad suppositions of Hannah diagnosis; it was almost certainly autism, not Asperger Disorder. Even the Biography.com citation and link state that her diagnosis was "borderline autistic."
Therefore, I will correct the article's reference (to Asperger's Syndrome) and categorization (within Category:People with Asperger syndrome) to that of autism spectrum in both cases because it is the most accurate WP categorization for the article's reference currently available.2001:558:6008:3B:A04E:E4A3:911A:3BA1 (talk) 14:28, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
Kill Bill
Iistal has edit warred, repeatedly changing Kill Bill to Kill Bill: Volume 2, despite the fact that Kill Bill describes it as a "martial arts film" (singular) that was divided into two parts by writer and director Quentin Tarantino. Tarantino developed it as one film, and divided it because of its length. Sundayclose (talk) 02:23, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
- They are two separate films, period. Iistal (talk) 19:38, 20 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Iistal: This has been challenged. The proper procedure for you is to get consensus on this talk page rather than edit war. If you need confirmation of that, ask the last admin who blocked you, C.Fred. Sundayclose (talk) 19:40, 20 April 2016 (UTC)

- It only requires challenge by one editor. And read WP:BRD for what must happen after you have been reverted. Sundayclose (talk) 19:52, 20 April 2016 (UTC)

Listal, will you please stop edit warring on this article? It's incredibly tedious to see this pop up on my watchlist constantly. If it makes you stop edit warring, then I challenge it, too. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 19:54, 20 April 2016 (UTC)

Also not to be confused with ....
I copy here the body of #Not to be confused with .... (above on this talk page, unless a talk-bot archives it sometime after my starting this section):
- I have discovered that there is a porn actress who uses the stage name Darryl Hanah (2 Rs, one N), who vaguely resembles the star of Splash, and whose stage name is often misspelled to be identical to (and confused with) the Splash star.
My occasion for doing so is from the NYT's "Sunday Review OPINION, presumably published Sunday Sept. 17 (tho i am seeing it on their site as of Thursday evening their time, and dated accordingly), titled "My Struggle to Take Anti-H.I.V. Medicine" and with a name matching verbatim et literatim with our current title for this talk-page's Article page, annotated with
- By Daryl Hannah
which is immediately followed with
- Daryl Hannah is working on a collection of short stories about growing up in the South during the early years of AIDS epidemic.
Unless the NYT and/or the self-described "30-something African-American gay man in New York" get Trump-osis-ized promptly, it should be premature to consider disambiguating the name shared by Tom Hanks's costar and the gay man. But it would not be silly for someone with the right literary interests to research some in anticipation of at least the possibility of future notability by the time the gestation period for either Trump-fits or short-fiction has elapsed. (And if not, this note might still improve our contributors' response time from interest to Dab-clarity.) Someone more literate than i will have better ideas about where (beyond NYT literary articles and the New York Review of Books) to research.

Trivia - Veganism
It looks like the statement 'She has been vegan since age 11.' is false, so I've changed it. The source was a confusing YouTube video (not RS, I think), but in a 1999 interview she said she ate cheese, source also YouTube. One other relevant link I could find is [1]. --Cedderstk 21:14, 1 November 2018 (UTC)
