From Talk:Provisional Cession of the Hawaiian or Sandwich Islands

Merge?

Thanks for your work on this. This period does need some more details. Might it make sense to merge this into the Paulet Affair (1843) article? Some have also suggested moving it to just Paulet Affair without the 1843 since it is the only one so far. It seems to cover exactly the same event, and could just be a redirect. This one needs sourcing too. The French incidents also might be in the list. Mahalo. W Nowicki (talk) 18:24, 31 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've redirect the page to this. The concept of the "Provisional Cession of the Hawaiian or Sandwich Islands" as a separate government is nonsense since Paulet's action was never recognized by the British government. The title was wrong in the first place. The Provisional Cession was an action, an event by Kamehameha III not a government or state. Nor do historian treat this event as the start of a government/colony or as an temporary end of the Kingdom of Hawaii and the restoration of sovereignty by Admiral Thomas as a new beginning. Any usefull information about this period can be added to this article. Ex. Portugal was occupied by Napoleon during the Napoleonic War yet Wikipedia doesn't have a separate article for the period only one for Invasion of Portugal (1807). --KAVEBEAR (talk) 07:08, 31 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
